  1. Aha, good point on that. I could look at for hours, too bad you can't zoom in to get better resolution. I would love to go street by street to see what the building were like.
  2. Wow, look at the west side, where the Ford museum and GVSU is now. Looks all industrial…then look two blocks west further from the river. Is that just open space?
  3. Do I remember that BP gas station on the same block of the Bridge Street market will get replaced?
  4. Who owns that space? Now that the old stuff is coming down, are there any plans for a new building?
  5. Who wants to start a "Go Fund Me" campaign to buyout the awful Family Dollar store next door? May not be practical but just dreaming. Or at least they could invest in cleaning it up to make it not be such an eyesore. I understand some people in the neighborhood depend on it but…
  6. Is the F&C bid final/accepted? When does that happen? Just curious what kind of time frame we are talking once the winning bid is signed, sealed and delivered. Do you think it would take a year for the city to vacate the land? Do they know where they will move the facilities to?
  7. I would hear it often when I worked at Metro Health.
  8. In terms of infrastructure work, cosmetic work on the actual building, which one do you think needs the most attention, most work? 50 Monroe or the building Atwater Brewery is in? 50 Monroe is certainly an impressive project.
  9. With aluminum siding bought on sale at Menard's?
  10. That is nice...hope they dress up their windows too. Take the awful gates from inside the windows...looks like an inner city liquor store.
  11. I stopped into Zeytin today. They said they will remain in their current place until next June. She also said they will be in a new on the river...which is supposed to start build in the next few weeks
  12. Because if those walls were patient, the project would be complete.
  13. Any mention of what the little triangle will be? The one that have the contract trailers on it now?
  14. What about the longterm durability of wood versus concrete and steel? Seems a primarily wood structure would not last as long as other materials. Oh, that's right...in the USA we tear buildings down after 10-15 years.
  15. Is it a rebuild to current specs or will they alter the width as was talked about last year? I HATE driving down the hill and having to swerve all over the place just to stay in my own lane.
  16. Do you think any part of that building in salvageable, or would the whole thing need to be knocked down if it was ever sold? Do you think any part of that building in salvageable, to would the whole thing need to be knocked down if it was ever sold?
  17. I've been curious to ask what drives the local and recent architecture, especially the cheaper looking ones identified in other threads? Is it lack of imagination? Are they trying to go cheap and make a huge profit? Are many of the local architects related and get together at family reunions to design all these buildings we see pop up? Who really stands out?
  18. Does anyone have pictures of the old Hong Kong Inn...where the Art Museum is now.
  19. I assume they won't have a cost for the whole project until they see what is underneath?
  20. When was the Dollar store built? Early to mid 90s? Was that where the White Rabbit was?
  21. It would be nice to get rid of the Dollar store and bring the retail up to the street.
  22. Has there been a list of stores that will remain? I have a hunch the wig store will NOT remain but that is just a hunch. Since you are a psychic, can you pass me the winning lotto numbers?
  23. I was in Bombay for lunch today and the person said they want to focus on different IPAs. She said they are playing with the idea of a Cardamom IPA. Very Indian...at least the Cardamom part.
  24. Yeah, I was picturing a green space with a seasonal cafe that serves coffee, etc.. like in Central Park or other big cities. But the big industrial trucks that barrel down Monroe may spoil that scene.
