  1. The little building on the little triangle of land was torn down...across from ye' old strip joint. I wonder if there any plans or just a green space?
  2. Excellent job, looks great. My one question is what they have planned for the little detached building. They did not tear it down, so they obviously have plans.
  3. It looks so different...better. The area is getting cleaned up.
  4. Not sure where I should put this: http://woodtv.com/2016/08/04/s-division-a-priority-for-new-grpd-service-area/
  5. I stopped at Nourish today, after grabbing a Cold Brew at Rowsters. Nourish is no longer a grocery store...last day was today. They will remodel and reopen as a "produce basket" store only. That is where you preorder a big box of fresh and local produce, usually in the vegetable line.
  6. I've always wished there was a Demolition Fantasy Camp where you could spend a day driving the bulldozers, etc. This would be a nice 1 day Demolition Fantasy Camp.
  7. This is coming down as we speak (type). I noticed the little City Scales island is fenced off too. I wonder if they'll take that down too?
  8. When I drove by today, the whole block was fenced off. So it seems soon this trash heap will be gone. What a difference this will make and once the new place is up!
  9. How many parking spaces does the parking structure hold? I assume it's pretty full most of the work week and when there are events going on across the street.
  10. I was at the Downtown Market today, waiting for my El Cunado tacos. The market was pretty busy and I over heard a disgusted lady walk by and I could tell it was her first time at the market and most likely from out of town. She said: "This is a market? Where is all the regular damn food to buy? I don't want 7000 restaurants." I didn't ask what she was looking for but assumed she would have to get back in her car and drive at least 15-20 minutes in either direction to get what she needed.
  11. Just rip all that concrete out. Make it a real park with dirt, trees, grass, gardens, fountains...a green space that could accommodate large gatherings. You still put that Calder thing in there somewhere. Make is classic though, like a true central park. No gimmicky stuff.
  12. Needs to be replaced with an Urban Planet Grand Rapids mural...with pictures of GR DAD, Joe Downtown and all of the forum Mover and Shakers.
  13. What again is going in street level? Anything for the public or all MSU? I assume being a Bio Med Research Facility they won't have any Italian restaurants...
  14. I wonder how many Amway's corporate staff totals compared to their operations/plant employees?
  15. That would be a great place for a store. Then they could build a Funicular or Cable Car up the hill so people on the hill could walk to the lower part of town for entertainment or groceries
  16. We are going to need more coffee shops and bars downtown.
  17. That little triangle piece of land across from this new building. It's some kind of weigh station bordered by Market, Finney and Williams streets. Who owns that? What could possibly developed on it?
  18. Is this going in that big sea of a parking lot? Is the goal for that big strip to be replaced eventually?
  19. This may be another thread but has there been any news on the city owned property that put on the market? If and when this gets built, I would assume it would certainly put some emphasis on the city owned blight across the street, on the river.
  20. Heard the old Johnny B's has been split and will be a Bridal store and Chocolate store. Can't confirm but that is what I heard.
  21. Yes, old Wealthy Street station, Wasn't there a request to change the exterior that was holding things up?
  22. It will be nice to fill that lot. Wonder if there is any news on the other side of the street...the NW corner?
  23. I agree. I was there with 5 other people and they all could not stop talking about how good the food was.
