  1. A bittersweet day in Charlotte retail news!
  2. Well hopefully one store will be the stepping stone to more.
  3. Is there any room left at SouthPark for H&M there?
  4. Yeah you know I've heard a few other people say that they should use the "Belk gives" logo as well.
  5. I also posted this in the "New Belk Logo" thread in the Charlotte Coffee House. Here's what the new Belk logo looks like at Phipps: Courtesy adamctch22 on twitter. http://yfrog.com/n7gsxoj
  6. All feels like it's happening so quickly.
  7. Do you guys think Macy's will last there? I don't see where else there is room for them to go in Columbia.
  8. Indeed! Very excited for The Container Store's expansion into NC.
  9. So the new owner says he plans to reopen part of the interior of the mall by Dec 2011. I'm also confused about something, is he implying that if the interior of the mall is successful that Belk, Dillard's and Sears will actually reopen their stores at Eastland? That's what it sounds like he is saying. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2010/10/05/1740078/eastland-mall-could-reopen-by.html
  10. A shame if J-B closes, I like that store.
  11. I think HT's loyalty and stronghold on their home market keeps them from shaking in their boots about Publix. Bi-Lo is teeter-tottering, who know what their fate will be. It'll give the CLT market some more competition which I think is good.
  12. Yeah, Wal-Mart attempted to put that store in Marvin and Waxhaw- both of which were turned down so I guess they went for the more development-friendly 521 corridor on the $ friendly South Carolina side.
  13. Interesting but not surprising about C&B, agree with the sentiments that they do need a full size store in the Triangle
  14. Some positive news in today's Observer, http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2010/06/25/1523504/new-life-for-eastland.html The owners of Plaza Fiesta want to breathe new life into Eastland Mall, catering the stores to the neighborhood making it into not only a retail center but office and cultural center as well. This should be interesting to see how it plays out.
  15. Do you guys think the same could happen in Charlotte? (a la Whole Foods take over Healthy Home Market or something)? And have the store keep its identity... although i think if WF did come to CLT they'd want to full on keep their identity and create a massive large scale store (that's probably the difference between CLT an Asheville)
  16. I would argue, on behalf of Eastland and most of its area residents, that it was more the "perception of crime" that plagued it than the actual amount of crime itself.
  17. Yeah I remember what you're talking about but for the life of me I Can't remember the name either. Edit: found it, Organized Living was the store. http://www.dukemagazine.duke.edu/dukemag/issues/091002/mall1.html
  18. Looks like the Triangle has beat Charlotte to getting a Container Store.
  19. It's about time. Very excited for The Container Store! Thanks for sharing the good news.
  20. wonder if it's affiliated w/ Prickly Pear Mooresville
  21. I think SP had a RadioShack at one time...
  22. I love it. Now let's see it become reality!
