  1. Well if Borders isn't filled this could become a junior anchor for another store maybe... any ideas? H&M?
  2. Yeah looking at a map I don't seem to see much parking space, perhaps a little on Victor Avenue but otherwise it'll be very tight. Does Norfolk Southern own all of that land across the street?
  3. Is the rent really 900 for a studio? whoa. Also, do you know for sure if the new building will include mixed-use? That would be great for Southside.
  4. You know I was thinking that too^... it really is hard to figure out what could completely fill that space aside from Kohl's or a BJ's/Costco/Sam's. Belk IMO would work better in an uptown location if they were to locate in the area rather than under Target at Midtown.
  5. H&M and American Apparel are two different animals. I agree with Niblet that H&M is still seeking the 'perfect SouthPark location' just as Whole Foods was doing... whether it be in the mall or around the mall... I'm sure ideally they would have liked to have been in the mall but now they will take what they can get be it the Maersk site or what have you.
  6. Don't think this was posted here Trader Joe's is coming to Charlottesville in The Shops at Stonefield (formerly Albemarle Place) there seems to be a dept. store anchor pad there too, anyone know which store could potentially be coming here?
  7. Cool! I like it better than the HT @ Myers Park. However, sad that the current store will be razed...
  8. Well it is somewhat plausible because Apple does have stores in many mid-tier malls, and Charlotte is overdue a second Apple store. Although I would have bet that it would have gone to Birkdale first...
  9. Rooftop deck!!! That is sweet. Great photos
  10. Great news for Northlake, indeed!
  11. love that!! thanks for sharing it
  12. Bad move on Food Lion's part... Converting all NC and SC BLOOM stores to Food Lion... keeping the Bloom brand in VA/DC/MD though...
  13. Renderings suggest a regular target, as does square footage. But regular targets are offering a bigger selection of groceries.
  14. Wow amazing renderings, thanks for posting those!
  15. Wal-Mart would work, but the thing is they're building a new store very close by on another beleaguered shopping center (Amity Gardens)... and well frankly can't think of anything else that would fit the Eastland site properly.
  16. The thing is a typical H&M is like 20,000 or 30,000 square feet, and the space below Target is 120,000 square feet so if H&M wanted to move in it would have to be subdivided and the problem with subdivsion is that half the stores would be masked by the parking deck and would have a complete lack of visibility. There aren't a lot of stores that can simply fill 120,000 square feet... I bet they're holding out for a Kohl's, I don't know if a warehouse club wants to move in to that space at this point and like I said there aren't a lot of other big box retailers that can fill it.
  17. Setback for Eastland Mall... Owner wants to sell the site now, not sure who would buy it at this point: http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2011/02/21/2079813/eastland-mall-owner-might-sell.html
  18. Yeah tbh I really hope it doesn't get replaced, especially after the desecration of other stores *cough*SouthPark*cough*
  19. I just wonder what will fill the Borders SouthPark space. It has to be something unique enough to cater to being two-stories so any ideas here? I thought that The Container Store would be better suited here and H&M at the mall in the Joseph Beth space.
  20. Is there enough room back there!?! A Target, that is crazy!
  21. That's a good question. I wonder if the city of Chapel Hill has some say in the remodel too, I imagine there are some logistics they'd want to work out.
  22. Wow. You know, I had thought they'd close Charlotte's Northlake and Stonecrest stores before closing any of the Triangle stores. That does come as a surprise. Not surprised about the Greensboro location, but why keep the other Triad (Winston-Salem) store open instead? Edit: Mike, one Raleigh location will remain open on N. Six Forks Road (There are two Border's on that road).
  23. http://www.dailytarheel.com/index.php/article/2011/02/council_doesn039t_support_library_move_to_university_mall Looks like Chapel Hill Public Library at University Mall won't materialize after all.
