  1. I love this plan! It makes so much sense and would not only improve the traffic flow but the piece meal aesthetics currently in place. Underground utilities please!
  2. Knoxville has seen many changes throughout the city, and now you have the chance to be heard. Officials want to know what residents would like to see happen downtown at an upcoming meeting November 19, 2013 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the East Tennessee History Center. http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2013/oct/29/city-plans-downtown-redevelopment-summit/
  3. Here is the link to the story from Newschannel5. http://www.newschannel5.com/story/23812198/major-expansion-planned-for-mall-at-green-hills
  4. I would agree with you if there weren't significantly smaller cities like Panama City Florida or your own example of Paducah, KY that have their own commercial airports. Also, the reason why Toledo has the express airport is because it replaced the municipal airport back in 1955. The city maintains both a municipal airport and the express airport today. However, I agree that having BNA only helps Clarksville, as you suggested, but not so much for other parts of Western Kentucky such as Murray, Mayfield, Hopkinsville, Madisonville ( the stronger case could be made for Bowling Green which heavily depends on BNA for air service).
  5. The state has turned their back on Clarksville and Chattanooga in terms of road construction/interstate access for years. As others mentioned, however, Clarksville has a unique opportunity to develop in a more compact urban way because it didn't experience the tremendous growth like the Nashville suburbs. The river, airport expansion, and industrial developments will all be key in terms of continuing economic success for the state's 5th largest city. River: Build on the new marina and include more restaurants and specialty retail options that create a sense of place (look at Chattanooga as an example) Airport: Capitalize on the Western Kentucky and Clarksville area market for a reliever airport for BNA. While some would argue another commercial airport is not necessary at this time, you have to look at the future and what attracts and keeps business in your area. Retail and Office Space: Where is it?
  6. Berry Farms is moving right along. http://www.tennessean.com/article/20131021/NEWS01/310210038/Franklin-s-604-acre-Berry-Farms-development-showing-its-promise
  7. Not exactly. The Arnold Air Force Base is near Tullahoma as well as one of the top aerospace programs in the country at MTSU in Murfreesboro. There is also the large Smyrna airport/Tennessee Army National Guard, and Nashville International Airport, the list goes on. So Nashville is certainly no stranger to this type of business. http://www.arnold.af.mil/ http://www.mtsu.edu/aerospace/ http://www.smyrnaairport.com/about_us http://www.flynashville.com/about/Pages/default.aspx
  8. Ok no lakes, for lease signs, coming soon (for 5 years) signs, or boarded up, painted up buildings in Cool Springs I see.
  9. A new shopping center is under construction next to Drury Plaza Hotel. http://looplink.visionrealestateco.com/ll/16402967/Mallory-Lane-McEwen-Drive/
  10. The original rendering looked better. Go Disney! This will probably look much better once the real thing is finished, though. I was hoping this would be there instead : http://www.biltmore.com/
  11. Rivergate Mall sold for 176 million. http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/blog/2013/09/rivergate-mall-sold.html
  12. Not Embassy Suites though (SMH). I think a Westin, Grand Bohemian or something similar would be the perfect fit. A 21 c Hotel similar to Louisville or Cincinnati would be cool too.
  13. MTSU's new science building is coming along great. Here is a link to progress photos. http://mtsunews.com/sciencebuilding/constructionupdates/ Progress continues on a new roundabout near the Champion Way parking garage.
  14. An article in the Tennessean highlights the support of urban zoning along Gallatin Pike from Metro Council. However, developers that have advocated for urban zoning are now against it, such as H.G. Hill Realty. http://www.tennessean.com/article/20130818/NEWS/308180052/Gallatin-Pike-zoning-spurs-clash
  15. Georgia 400 tolls coming down! http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/news/2013/08/06/georgia-400-toll-removal-contract.html
  16. Vastland Realty Group has created a website for the Cumberland Center development in Lebanon. http://www.cumberlandcenterlebanon.com/
  17. Well said. This is not the same Nashville of 1990. The broader picture is that more people demand more services.
  18. Great Find! I really hope this comes to fruition.
  19. I don't expect Murfreesboro to change much in terms of height, unless the city really starts to invest in the built environment by building apartments, condos, retail, infill developments downtown and not farther out. The city has recently hired a consulting agency to help in this area (which is long overdue). The market and infrastructure has to be there for skyscrapers (for our city probably 15-30 stories maximum). I would rather see a cluster of commercial, residential, hotel, low to mid-rises similar to Manufacturers Rd./Market Street (Chattanooga) or Biltmore Avenue/Downtown (Asheville) to fill in those surface lots first before the city decides to go vertical.
  20. A new Smyrna interchange could have regional and economic benefits. I decided to post this here given the potential road's effect on traffic patterns and development plans between Smyrna and Cool Springs. http://www.dnj.com/article/20130710/MICRO0501/307100014/Interchange-plan-remains-iffy
  21. Sears to close at Cool Springs Galleria. Plans are to make way for new retail and restaurants. http://www.tennessean.com/article/20130702/BUSINESS/307020061/Sears-store-CoolSprings-Galleria-close-undergo-redevelopment?nclick_check=1
  22. Boyle Development vote tonight for Brentwood retail and hotel. http://nashvillepost.com/news/2013/7/1/brentwood_planning_asked_to_ok_synergy_park_hotel_and_retail
