  8. The White Castle sign and surface parking lot ruining it for me in the foreground though...smh.
  9. Good. I love Yeah Burger! Just ate there the other day. I spoke to the general manager, Chris Lopez, of Atlanta, and he said the Broadway location was stalled due to utility concerns, but will be on track to open this spring (fingers crossed).

  11. I don't know why it's showing that. The Holiday Inn is only on one parcel of land. They probably meant to show the other hotels mentioned and were just lazy.

  13. MTSU has released a new campus tour video that shows many of the new additions to the campus. Middle Tennessee Boulevard widening project has completed the bidding process and construction should begin soon. http://www.murfreesboropost.com/middle-tennessee-boulevard-bidding-the-sequel-cms-42820
  14. This project was announced several months ago, and they have topped out the first office building and ground work for the parking areas. It's design is about 10-15 years behind the times (think Meridian Cool Springs), even for a suburban style mixed use development. I wish they would have incorporated a parking garage considering the number of hotels and other shopping centers announced in the area recently. However, it will be good to provide much needed Class A office space in Murfreesboro, somewhat near downtown. Hopefully it will be a catalyst for future development, as there is still plenty of land in the Gateway area for many more mixed use and residential developments.

  16. Chapter 7 of the Murfreesboro 2035 Comprehensive plan is now complete. Within this chapter are suggestions for the urbanization of Murfreesboro's downtown and university areas to promote economic growth. The consultants also contemplated that Murfreesboro needs multi-level high rises, mixed used facilities, parking decks, and residential towers downtown to maximize the city's potential and solidify Murfreesboro as an independent city in the Nashville metro area. New large scale retail and business park areas were identified, as well as the increasingly important I-24/840 interchange to foster economic growth. Key weaknesses addressed were Murfreesboro's lack of strategy to develop downtown, blend downtown and the university areas seamlessly, infill surface parking, seek white collar retail, office space/jobs, and residential space, weak cooperation efforts with Nashville to promote the region's most powerful industries in health care, music, tourism, and education, and increased traffic congestion. http://www.murfreesborotn.gov/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/10272015-343
  17. Wow they must have heard me! I sent Fresh Market a letter over a year ago about that exact location. I even sent links including the city's gateway district website and the Oaks Shopping Center website/flyers.

  20. Bell Farm is a new 60 acre mixed use development in the southwestern quadrant of Murfreesboro. http://www.theparksgroupcommercial.com/UserFiles/File/propertyfiles/BellFarm-Brochure-1409777785.pdf Browning Development has also released the site plan for a few retail/restaurant strip centers across from the new Kroger Marketplace on highway 96 in west Murfreesboro. http://www.browningcompanies.com/images/properties/1432829441.pdf Smyrna is conducting a special census based on continued growth. 21. Rutherford County Judicial Building approved. http://www.dnj.com/story/news/2015/08/20/new-judicial-center-design-approved/32088243/
  22. There are a couple new East Nashville like homes on Jackson St. that were formerly rundown duplexes. The city has plans to rebuild Lytle Street from the new roundabout downtown/Bridge over Broad Street project all the way to Middle Tennessee Boulevard, forming a new entrance into MTSU. The Highland Avenue area has desperately been overlooked as a vital corridor connecting downtown residents to 231 North Corridor and Highway 70 East. The old medical office strip centers/low density dental offices were missed opportunities for the city to form a much needed retail/commercial area so that residents would not have to travel to Old Fort Parkway. The Highland Avenue area from Main Street to 70 East have a few black owned businesses such as Jeff's Family Restaurant, Kleer Vu, etc. as well as a few beauty shops and churches scattered about. Greenland Drive, Highland Avenue, Lytle, East Main Street are clearly underutilized for higher density development, retail, and restaurants. Until these corridors are rezoned to allow more uses, you'll get the same stuff that is currently allowed (title loans, gas stations, metal buildings, low quality food shops).
  23. At least there are no fake balconies or McDonald's in front of it.
