  1. I somehow have missed the other posting of this statues. I though it was less than a month old?
  2. New statue in the Rock Quarry garden. Does anyone have any info about this statue?
  3. The first photo was taken from Hudson towards DT Greenville. The second Photo was taken from Westfield away from town with the new Kroc center site on the left and the Reedy river on the right. At the present time this is a rough part of town and this whole area is not very well known. Until the Kroc center is built or the trail makes it far enough to connect to something it is just going to be the trail to no where (for now). It is really hard to figure out were the trail will actually be located because of all the other rail road tracks in the area, but it appears to me that it will help connect the new "lofts" development to DT.
  4. This is the river directly under the tall railroad bridge in the first photo.
  5. Wish the whole Woodruff road area was more walkable. I live down town and personally would prefer to take the bus to that area and then walk, bike, or ride a tram (driving and parking on Woodruff road is no fun). If their was a series of tram-bike-and walk only sidewalks that connected Magnolia, Verda Greenridge ICAR and a light rail to DT I think that would help this area considerately. What impression a couple of artfully designed pedestrian bridges over I-85 would make (think Falls bridge).
  6. This site has always been #2 or lower to something. 1st it was#2 mall after Haywood mall and now it is the #2 "town center " behind Greenridge. IMO this site has never reached it's full potential. The residential tower is disappointing and the I am starting to be concerned how the new buildings and old buildings are going to work together.

    The West End

That is one sad set of poles! IMO it seem kind of late in the project to bury them put I hope I am wrong.

    The West End

The new west end coffee. The main street landscaping is getting close to being done. The lot next to the tracks RT was talking about.
  9. Not sure this is worth discussing but I have wondered about how the "tier" system works? Does one Peace center cancel out one Costco or what? Anyway the Mangled Town Center is starting to look less appealing but hoping for the best.
  10. What "tier rating system" are you using I would like to know more.
  11. I agree and was thinking that the city maybe starting to develop a unique style of its on.
  12. I only have a computer at work and I am on job sites a lot so I was unable to check the UP for 24 hours. What a cool surprise to see the Peacock construction thread (this has to be the record for the quickest start for a construction thread) and finally some thing that is really going to get built! So I mssed all the action.
  13. Great shot ! Great place for a picnic.
  14. Due to the huge success of the park the lower part of the park had to be replanted and it is temporally closed.
  15. Sorry it has taken me so long to reply but their are two places to park and view the downtown airport. Both are located off of Lowndes Hill -Woods Lake road near 385. This picture was taken from the one nearest the Expo center behind the Blind Horse Saloon. Because the airport is so flat and the lights are even across the horizon this view kind of reminds of the beach front. I always thought this would be great location for a restaurant overlooking the airport.
  16. Eating cheeseburgers and watching planes land. Trey's cheap date tip for the day.
  17. The Bi-Lo center is still a great building and if their is a market someone else will step up to the plate and will take over the growl or bring a new team to town. I personal think that with the natural football following in the area that a arena football team should do good in Greenville. IMO one of the proplems with Hockey is that it has a limited market. My wife would not go back because of all the fighting (years ago at a game we were at some one had their jaw broke and blood all over the ice) Not a very good show of sportsmanship for the kids. I would not recommend taking young kids to the games (Daddy why is that man beating the crap out of that other man?). Great night to go out and drink beer with the boys and hope for fight!
  18. If you go by the Hampton Inn they will give you a quick tour ( take your camera forgot mine ) As I was told by the staff the building was designed before they knew what would locate there, so it created the need for some unique planing for a Hampton Inn. They showed me three different room types, one with a balcony over looking the reedy river, one in the back circular tower and one of the smaller standard rooms in the middle of the Inn. All the rooms are very unique and different from standard hotel rooms. They looked great, had great views and by far the best Hampton Inn rooms I have seen and some of the best looking rooms in Greenville. As I was leaving, I overheard a member of the staff on the phone with a guest, describing Greenville as a tourist destination and that the Hampton Inn was located in the middle of all the attractions. As a Greenville native it's kind of hard to get used to hearing Greenville describied as a tourist destination (but cool).
  19. Stop by the Hampton Inn and was told by the staff the bells will be located in the middle of the paved courtyard between the Hampton inn and the new building they are working on (the small unfinished planter in the middle of the paved circle).
  20. This shot was toke 6:00PM yesterday, seems to be minimum damage to the park. Couple other shots from this morning are posted in the Greenville Rains topic .
  21. That is what I was thinking should be a great patio for dinner.
