  1. I wasn't aware that widening the sidewalk was part of it! Thanks for the update.
  2. Anyone know what is happening across the Ingles on Chesnee Highway immediately after I-85?
  3. The petitioners themselves requested that it be tabled to further work out some aspects of the project.
  4. Yep! It was tabled. I am on my way to head out to see if I can find more info on it.
  5. Huh! I had ruled out a bus solution based on thinking it would not work on I-85, but you are right - there is potential to do it on Highway 29. Time to look for a place to plant that seed of an idea! Do you know if it's ever been brought up as a possibility these last few years at any official level?
  6. None, at least none that I heard (sometimes it's hard to hear in that room!). It was primarily concerns about the implementation matrix document and edits that still needed to be made.
  7. That's what I figured! Thanks for the clarification on the renderings.
  8. I just got a notice on Loopnet for 186 N Liberty Street. There appears to have been a switch up with the Gibbs Center renderings...? I seem to remember something along these lines for lot behind the Marriott. Are these the same as those that were posted then? 186 N. Liberty Street will be built on flat land. This is for more of a sloped piece of land. Anyway, posting here in case these are accidentally posted, updated renderings of the Gibbs Center. AND because I'm very confused. Maybe someone can help me decipher this. XD
  9. The speed rail trail will make commuting from Greenville/Spartanburg to Atlanta/Charlotte so much more viable! I still wish both Greenville and Spartanburg could have gotten their own dedicated spots, but given the nature of the thing and the terrain, it makes sense that they should have gone with the Greenville-Spartanburg international airport option.
  10. Chris Story mentioned today that the new iteration is expected to gather $400M in funds vs. the $250M of the current one. That's quite the testament to our achieved + expected growth. Now to figure out where the remaining funds would come in from!
  11. City Council tabled adoption of the comprehensive plan, with one of the main reasons being that there are typos/edits that still need to be made, and it will take at least 30 days to have that happen. There were also many questions about how to implement the recommendations presented in the plan and, hence, what document(s) should be adopted alongside it, with some residents asking that it be done simultaneously. Stay tuned!
  12. There have been hurdles, yet it is still very much in motion. Can't wait for construction to finally begin!
  13. It would be a double drive thru, and dump into the general parking lot area below rather that immediately into one of the entries into/exits from Hillcrest. In itself an improvement, though I am curious what the flow of things will be like once Ruby Tuesday becomes a rumored burger joint itself and Hobby Lobby opens up.
  14. Something that I find curious .... according to the latest GoUpstate article, the current iteration of the penny sales tax will have raised $225 million in funds. Yet a WYFF article mentions the following: Anyone know how we would go from having it raise $225M these last six years to double+ that the next six? Is it from projected sales growth over the next few years from the higher number of residents and hopefully out of County visitors...? It's just such a drastic projected jump!
  15. Not sure where to place this one, as it is in greater Spartanburg, ie., outside of the city, but on track to be annexed to the city... MIXED-USED DEVELOPMENT in the works for 9.10 ACRES near Spartanburg Regional! At the last Planning Commission meeting, the committee received a REQUEST FOR ANNEXATION AND ZONING DESIGNATION of a property: * LOCATED AT: 1017 Florida Avenue - TMS: 7-08-09-086.00 * That is CURRENTLY UN-ZONED * TO BE DESIGNATED a zone of LOD-PDD - Limited Office District – Planned Development District * To accommodate a MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT on the site. The project WOULD BRING: * 170 RESIDENTIAL UNITS * A potential COMMERCIAL venture. The owner would like to incorporate a percentage of AFFORDABLE HOUSING UNITS, in conversation with the City of Spartanburg. ~ • ~ • ~ • ~ NEXT STEPS ~ • ~ • ~ • ~ The project will now go for a public hearing and First Reading of Ordinance by City Council on Monday, April 10, 2023. If the matter receives first reading approval, it will then go before the City Council for a Second and Final Reading on Monday, April 24, 2023. The PUBLIC HEARINGS WILL BE PUBLICLY ANNOUNCED.
  16. That corridor is PACKED with potential. The Lively should do much to, well, liven up the place!
  17. Anyone have a sense of where this would or could plug into the DAN? Technically this trail is from Inman to Saluda only, yet I seem to remember the intent being to connect it to the DAN at some point. Image of planned trail attached.
  18. Anyone have a sense of where this would plug into the DAN?
  19. Now that you posted this here, I may or may not have told a few people about it...
  20. Not downtown per se, but it's the closest I could find for this. MAIN STREET MOTEL is under new ownership and set for RENOVATION. Not 'redevelopment,' so it will likely stay as a motel? Here is how I found out about it: https://www.wspa.com/news/local-news/motel-residents-in-spartanburg-forced-to-leave/
  21. Thanks SO MUCH for posting this, Westsider! I would have loved to attend. Being 5,000 miles away didn't help! Impressive indeed. Add to this the Saluda trail, and very soon, this will become a dream for those who want to ride their bicycles or go on a good run in peace. Exciting!
  22. Continued rumors of the baseball stadium rising. GDJ initials, maybe? I also heard rumors that if the deal isn’t finalized this year, whatever it is, won’t happen. Strike three, I guess? XD Still hoping for a homerun!
  23. Lucky Penny Drive will get a small parking lot (needed, as it's already a tight fit, and not all the units are constructed). The Oakwood Avenue equivalent will get some green space called "Park Sparkle," which will be a venue to host movies for the residents and the like.
