  1. 230 Buist Avenue I noticed this too and had the same question. Are notices typically required for projects outside city limits? Since they are following the city developer-led neighborhood meeting process, I'm thinking that they plan to annex in.
  2. There's a developer meeting for a 93 townhome project scheduled for 8/8 @ 6PM at Berkshire Hathaway for the block between Pete Hollis, Buncombe, Alexander St, Montgomery Ave. This area is in severe need of redevelopment, eager to see what the plan looks like.
  3. Are you referring to the note from the city engineer from 12/13/2022? I assume they've already taken care of this?
  4. This is the new storefront being built right? I'll never buy anything from there but that's a solid land hah. I've always liked how their stores looked.
  5. A new mural design for the Army Navy store is going in front of the Arts in Public Places commission on Tuesday - will be by the same group that did the West End Mural on the Smoke on the Water building https://www.greenvillesc.gov/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_07252023-3518
  6. I don't understand how this guy has the time and mental energy to open all these places all at the same time lol. It's good to see that the Barleys space had a competitive bid situation and that he had to pay over asking to get it.. it's a continued good sign for our market.
  7. An urban Target and an upscale movie theater (doesn't necessarily need to have dinner service, just nice chairs, screens, and audio) are the biggest items on my wishlist
  8. There's plenty of stories about this phenomenon in some large cities that are not diversified (San Francisco, New York City, Chicago) and primarily serve a single industry having an issue with people going remote and not wanting to return to office due to the very high cost of living. I really don't think Greenville is dealing with this same issue and it's not right to extrapolate issues in those cities to our city. The occupancy numbers show that our city is in major need of additional class A office space and hopefully banks are smart enough to see that. Honestly, banks should be prioritizing financing for office projects in cities (like ours) that people are migrating to in order to escape from some of the highest cost cities in the country.
  9. I see on last week's commission meeting that they considered an item to allow "to-go" alcohol from restaurants and consumption in the terminal or outside in the garden. Anyone know if this passed and if the Escape Lounge is going to allow this as well? That would be awesome.
  10. This is awesome. Good for him on growing his business and giving his team bigger opportunities. Also it's killing me that there's no concept art or floorplans of what this will look like. February 2024 is the projected completion date and there's nothing?? Man, the suspense is killing me.
  11. Post and Courier is a local paper now. I'm not sure if they have their office in the west end officially up and running yet, but they have made a significant investment in expanding into this market and have locally based staff (they have at least 12 reporters, a publisher and advertising director all here). They are probably our best newspaper now.
  12. In addition to the demolition equipment and containers onsite the Cline property, there are also workers today doing some exterior demolition on the old Buttercream Bakery building. I assume this is all connected? Or does anyone know what's happening to this property
  13. I imagined the concern from the beginning was vagrants living in the abandoned buildings. It happens to any abandoned building/house in this area of the city.
  14. Coastal Crust is opening a new location at the old Resident Diner space in TR near Community Tap, open by September. They plan to open at least one more location in Greenville after that.
  15. That's what I was telling the person next to me. I hope the new digs improve the service levels and modernize the operation.
  16. Had to wait 1.5 hours for a reserved rental car at Avis yesterday. From talking to others, this is not abnormal. Hope they can keep up with this volume of visitors because it's really not a great first impression of the city. Another reason why I wish there was better connectivity to downtown from the airport.
  17. Buying real estate and building Class A office space for a growing business in downtown Greenville is probably not only a good long term business decision, but the equity growth is probably a nice profit center for the business as well... as an individual, my wealth is growing more from my equity than my income over the past several years. Kinda interesting to reflect upon as a pretty decently paid white collar worker.
  18. I've noticed some activity and dirt moving at The Collective at Henry and Hammett. Anyone have more details on this and construction timeline?
  19. Yeah if this development had no surface lots I'd have no issue. Hopefully Whole Foods is the only one, and that specific lot was supposed to be zoned to be a little less dense from the beginning. Still disappointed though
  20. My thoughts are they are trying to make Wade Hampton not some impenetrable wall, by encouraging pedestrian and bike use through the middle it makes it less imposing. I do agree about access along with conflicts where there are left turns. Hopefully they show some more details about how these two things will look practically.
  21. https://www.greenvillesc.gov/2136/Wade-Hampton-Boulevard-Corridor-improvem I really love these plans. The roundabout at Church St plus a Superstreet with a shared-use median would be a very attractive solution. If they really don't need significant right-of-use acquisitions, the city should be able to pull this off pretty quickly. Only thing I wonder about is where the controlled left turns will be placed.
  22. The mass, elevation, and look of this building is extremely nice coming from the Augusta intersection with the County building in the foreground and Liberty Square in the background
  23. I understand how Greenville government decisions are made, but the mayor has a massive influence on what gets put in the press and swaying the public opinion for things. There's a number of things that would not have gotten approved over the past many years without the influence and public appeal that White has brought to the position. Also, the mayor is a voting member of city council and is often a tie breaker. Calling him powerless is pretty crazy.
  24. It took me maybe 2 minutes to vote yesterday. If Farmer would have won this forum would have been good as gone with him trying to stop all development in the city. Like it or not, politics is extremely impactful on the local level, and if you aren't participating for your interests... well that just means your interests won't be considered when others who show up to vote go ahead and win.
  25. A fantastic 6% turnout to vote for a critical position for the future of the city. Lol gotta love politics sometimes
