NashvillePost says the purchase will be by the end of February and groundbreaking in April. But they shortened it to 27 floors.

In the evening sunlight bounces off the JW Marriott tower like a laser. These views are from Sixth and Union today. -
Word around the federal courts is that April 1 is the new move-in date. Make up your own joke.

We used to say Nashville was in no danger of being overbuilt but was in danger of being "over-announced". Now most of the announcements actually materialize. That's a nice change.

That is very interesting. I recall when Terrazzo Condos were built on 12th Avenue that I thought it was almost a fraud for them to show pictures of the city views because Icon was about to go up across Division Street and block most of the views. But in a big city there is not much you can do about that, I guess.

As I saw the evening sun bouncing off the new glassy buildings on Broadway today, I was reminded of an elderly banker telling me years ago about the "curse of Belle Meade". He was referring to the fact that as he guided his car off the Boulevard onto Harding Road in the morning the sun was in his face. Then, as he drove home in the evening, the same thing happened. Not much of a curse, I suppose, but it obviously bothered him. Such matters are what another friend called, "The velvet worries of the rich". -
Several months ago a federal official told me that yesterday was the move-in date. Obviously that did not work out. But these shots from yesterday show that some progress is being made and it looks like the interior is nearly done. Moving in 2022 for sure.

Got this view today of Amazon II from the intersection of Charlotte Avenue and George L. Davis Blvd. Does anyone know if there will be any signage on the big tower?

Tonight I was at a Christmas function at the Fairlane Hotel at Fourth and Union and was impressed by the views from the rooftop event space. Here is a shot looking south down Fourth Avenue. And a couple of pictures of the UBS Center, formerly First American Bank. And this view looking west up Union Street. -
Two pictures from the I-40 ramp today. Looks like they are applying a roof to the trusses for the screen on top. And a wider shot in the afternoon sun.

Here's a shot of Amazon II from this morning. It will be imposing, even from the Church Street viaduct.

Embassy Suites (30 stories, 500 rooms), 1 Hotel (18 stories, 221 rooms)
Native replied to smeagolsfree's topic in Nashville
The "ski jump" must be really tricky construction as it has taken months to build. But that space with the pool and all that glass is going to be very dramatic when it is done and probably will attract guests to Embassy Suites. I hope Nashville can get the convention business going again so all these fancy hotels will do well.- 1,151 replies

805 Lea dominates the view from 8th and Division, but the rest of this shot taken yesterday is new glass too. A total change from five years ago. (Except for the L & C Tower, lurking to the right.) -

Thanks for that one. John is one of the best photographers Nashville has ever had. -
As I crawled up Rosa Parks Blvd. today I was able to get these views of the progress on Amazon II. That corner with Church Street is about to be transformed.

We are nearing the final look on the front door. Still a lot of work to be done on the grounds. Last night a federal judge confided that it will be several more months before completion and was despairing that it is too small already.

In this poor quality shot from traffic today it looks like the framework for the top screen has begun on the north and east sides.

I agree. A lot of blue ribbon tenants. Should bode well for the Reed site and Beaman if they ever get going. West End is becoming a mega-site.
