  1. Thanks to Rolly for answering a question that was bugging me. So the office space is just two stories above the grocery. All the rest is residential?
  2. Here is one legitimate construction picture so I can sneak in some more weather photos.
  3. Street shots of the residential tower (now topped out) and the office tower just beginning atop the parking deck. Removal of the hydraulics on the core assembly has taken days. This is an elegant building.
  4. Back to the awesome development, indeed. They have poured the top of the parking level where the trees and grass will be. And the roof of the residential tower is about to be formed. Looks like the utility area will be almost 20 feet tall.
  5. NashWellington11 is right. I scoped it out this morning and the top of the Cumberland is right in line with the gap. The office tower will be just to the left of the Cumberland and mostly fill the gap.
  6. Looks like the office tower crane just left of the Capitol dome. So other building would be Bridgestone.
  7. On the issue of Amazon's "control" of the other building sites, I think the developer could simply build sooner (if the market would support that) and Amazon would waive its rights because it would not be ready to expand. The problem becomes more complicated if there is a long delay in building the other tower(s). Nice to have that option, I guess.
  8. Blue hood is gone as core has topped out. Elbows on the rebar signal that the roof is about to be poured.
  9. Same intersection as seen by a firefighter in 1978.
  10. I have a random thought about this project. While I agree it is very exciting and looks cool in the renderings, I can't help but wonder if this type of clientele wants to be in the middle of fireworks and NFL-style crowds several nights each year. Access to the building will be greatly affected by Nashville's new tourism success, won't it? The members of this forum know much more than I do about such things so take this with a grain of salt. But, just saying....
  11. Great photos by Messrs. Chinetti and Hollin. From my office in NCC it is apparent that the McKendree Methodist Church is surrounded by towers now and will soon be in an urban canyon. But it was not always so. When the church was rebuilt in 1879 (because of deterioration during the Civil War) it had three spires, two were 130 feet tall and the center steeple was an astounding 230 feet tall. Sadly, the church burned to the ground that same year and was replaced by a more modest structure. But a Methodist church has stood there since 1832.
  12. The residential building is nearly topped out. The core is well above the first penthouse floor and they have two more floors to go. With the utility screen on top it will probably be just a bit higher than the Renaissance and, of course, the hotel is at a slightly higher elevation.
  13. Old jingle: Krispy Kreme has got the flavor other donuts lack; Once you try them you will like them and you'll hurry back. Krispy Kreme!
  14. True. But if the camera is above the roof of the building the ones farther away look taller. My point was that the photo in question was taken from a drone 400 feet up (confirmed by the photographer) so the buildings are actually of equal height. This can also be observed from the high floors of the 505.
  15. Annette's photo reveals another error in the height claims by some of Nashville's iconic buildings. Fifth Third Center has always reported a 490 foot height while the L&C Tower is known to be 409 feet. (I rappelled and climbed this building in 1978 with the fire department so I can vouch for that number.). The picture is taken from near the top of each tower showing there is not an 80 foot difference; and, the L&C site is lower than Fifth Third. I have always thought the 490 figure included the garage underneath. Maybe I need to seek therapy for this obsession.
  16. This excellent photo reveals the obvious fact that Pinnacle and Bridgestone buildings are of equal height despite the "facts" on the Skyscraper page. Still waiting for an ambitious fellow with a tape measure to correct these errors. I'm too old for that sort of thing.
  17. Is there a construction cam yet?
  18. I have noticed several errors on the Wikipedia site. They say Bridgestone is taller than Pinnacle but they are clearly of equal height. Also, the height of Fifth Third Center seems to be exaggerated as compared to the L&C Tower. Somebody with a good laser needs to go out and factcheck these people.
  19. That is going to be great camera angle when Broadwest gets above ground. But you will have to move to the AB offices to see it.
  20. Is it possible that the builder gets some benefit by claiming this is a renovation rather than a teardown and new construction?
  21. I had a talk with one of the security guards at Fifth and Broad yesterday and he was coy, but did wink when I mentioned Apple.
