  1. Spartanburg is growing like a weed! When We moved here almost 6 years ago it was still pretty sleepy, but these last few years, we've just exploded. Great stuff.
  2. Damn shame those houses weren't saved. My 2 Cents.
  3. They'll be higher up and further away. But true, maybe some just don't care. Also, a question will be, which way (if there are any) will balconies face. Another issue I see with Kress, the wall that faces FY is actually part of the old building that used to be there, not Kress' wall. So I'm sure that the wall is owned by FY, and they may not want to have windows in it. Good point about the owner. Sadly, if they just want to sit on it... then I guess they'll just sit on it.
  4. I absolutely love the courtyard idea, and how that enables them to actually have windows in the apartments. If I had to complain about anything, and it's a very silly (and selfish) complaint, I would love to have seen this courtyard be an outside patio for a restaurant. Overall really really solid project in my opinion. With the "100 block" project, and this project... downtown is really taking shape. Now if we could get the Kress building reused. Though that will be a tough one, a future developer could conceivably take a play out of this (MW) play book, but then you have windows and balconies hanging over the Fr8 Yard. No bueno. I hate to say it but Fr8 Yard will likely be the cause of that building not seeing a meaningful reno for a long time. Unless of course it goes commercial with sound proof glass on the East side.
  5. So needed! We live in Hillbrook and very much welcome this development, the future development it will stimulate as well!
  6. THIS. IS. AWESOME! Love the adaptive reuse!!! Can't wait to see this happen!
  7. The MW building is so cool Can't wait to see what's proposed and hopefully it does the building the justice it deserves.
  8. This is huge! I can't wait to see this come together. Such a cool project for Spartanburg and such a needed upgrade to downtown.
  9. That would be a good thing! Some Mixed use residential commercial would do that area some good.
  10. That's what I meant, that ugly red thing. I thought it was part of the 911 system.
  11. Thanks for that. I get it. But would love to see that tower taken down. Such an eye sore. But it is what it is!
  12. Is the EOC going to replace the 911 Tower on Pine and Main? Or are those two things not related?
  13. That's it! That's what someone told me too... Ross moving into the old SM space, and Hobby Lobby going into the current Ross Space.
  14. Not sure how accurate this is, but someone said ROSS is moving into that space and the Ross space was going to be something else. Can't remember for the life of me what they said was going there. I guess we'll know soon enough.
  15. There's Lincoln. I think that's it.
  16. https://www.goupstate.com/story/news/2021/12/07/montgomery-development-group-building-office-space-downtown-spartanburg/8891830002/?fbclid=IwAR0ojbBD3WSQlYVRi2VTPjj8H9habJdYQX4UN3CVv2avg4_BcXjPNMDDmgY If approved, they want to break ground in the spring and think it'll take 12 months to build.
  17. I do hope they find a way to reuse this building. It's just so dang cool. Keeping my fingers crossed.
  18. Have to agree that this is a great start to "kick-starting" meaningful development on that corridor. Love the homage to the MB. Overall like the design, brings new and old together, I just wish, as it was stated above, that the new had a bit more character. A cornice, as mentioned above would be a big plus, and I agree that the beige is just bleh. BUT, overall great start for the area and yes the MB style store-fronts and main entrance are solid. Make it a redder brick, lose the beige, hell make the whole thing brick with a cornice and some cool ornate brickwork and we've got a winner no doubt.
  19. I live right there, and though that side of 29 very much is in need of a store/gas station... I would have MUCH rather have seen the bowling alley updated/upgraded/refurbished and the parking lot cleaned up and repaved. The plaza across Webber is a dump, and needs a major facelift along with the one across main (that one could use a wrecking ball.) My issue with gas stations/c-stores is that it's a riff-raff gathering point at night. Look at the Marathon on 29 and Drayton, or the Speedway on 29 and Plainview. Stop by one of those after dark. Not good.
  20. Well that's in my back yard. And that SUCKS.
  21. This and the E. Main project (Both M Peters Group) are honestly the most exiting projects to be proposed in a while. Can't wait to see it come together. Fingers Crossed.
  22. I'm sure I'll get an earful for this, but what really has to happen is a Interstate Spur from I85 to 29. Somewhere like these 3 options...
  23. Totally hear you on the angled views, but even still... move them closer to the bank (if possible of course), I just hate seeing parking lot getting the best real estate. 100% agree on the blah modern design. But all of that being said, this is awesome. That area needs this desperately, and this, Converse Mill and all of the other development on the East Side should spur a complete revitalization of Clifton and that would be fab! Clifton has such cool topography, I can only imagine how amazing it could be if properly developed.
