  1. I wonder what is making them lean towards razing this part of the building?
  2. I would think this is possible if they really wanted. Google streetview isn't up to date, but here is a newish roundabout in Zeeland with a town sign and landscaping in the center. It's tall enough that you cannot see over it.
  3. Lakefront hotel project in Manistee. Appears even the east facing rooms will have slight lake views of Lake Michigan, which is cool.
  4. Update on Zeeland’s Sligh Furniture Building redevelopment.
  5. Meanwhile, the fencing just went up this week for the redevelopment of the Sligh Furniture building downtown Zeeland. Will also be apartments. City is vacating the street next to the project as it's not needed and very close to the building. (sadly, the long time restaurant in the background burned to the ground this week...) https://goo.gl/maps/tgRtJArh3teWH8jY6
  6. Nevermind. Looks like the idea was just shelved a couple weeks ago https://www.record-eagle.com/news/local_news/elberta-development-shelved/article_ace18ce6-af97-11ec-a59b-5f83d84a1a71.html
  7. Way up the Lakeshore... In Frankfort. Still in the I'll believe when I see it stages. https://www.record-eagle.com/news/local_news/developer-says-elberta-plans-hold-promise/article_9d010d24-90d4-11ec-82a7-139b2d6dcbbe.html
  8. Here’s a couple crude progress pics of Holland projects. At River & 7th and River & 9th.
  9. I agree that these look out of place. I would go with more of a wharf warehouse look with a slight nod to Dutch architecture. Similar to the market buildings in Boston.
  10. Another rendering of the Holland waterfront proposal. https://mibiz.com/sections/real-estate-development/holland-reviewing-single-proposal-to-redevelop-downtown-waterfront-property
  11. My guess is that this portion of the building is going to be demo'd. If you look at the East view it stops at this point.
  12. Since they're looking for crazy ideas: Holland is looking for a use for the old waterfront powerplant site. Then you could justify a frequent rail service between the lakeshore and downtown GR as the rail line goes right to the waterfront at Padnos. ***I do not think this is an actual solution and would prefer downtown GR as well...
  13. Looks like maybe this beam was headed to Manistee for the new M55 bridge? https://www.manisteenews.com/local-news/article/M-55-bridge-construction-causing-traffic-backups-16333406.php#photo-21267490
  14. Lakeshore Beer: Big Lake already has a great building and cool patio area if you haven't been. Looks like the patio needs to go vertical to accommodate more patrons. https://www.cityofholland.com/DocumentCenter/View/4178/13-W-7th-Street---Site-Plan-Review
  15. Don't recall if Holland is in the GR MSA, but thought this was interesting... Not sure what to make of it. There are apartment complexes going up all over the place here on the Lakeshore. Is Holland Township expanding too quickly? Board mulls moratorium on large-scale housing development https://www.hollandsentinel.com/story/news/politics/government/2021/07/18/holland-township-may-halt-housing-development-9-months/7989465002/
  16. Could also have gone with Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Concert Hall... Gun Lake Casino is owned and operated by the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians (Gun Lake Tribe).
  17. 5 Lakes Brewing in Dorr is moving to Tanger Outlets. Seems like a great move for them for foot traffic and exposure. Article also mentions a creation of an outdoor entertainment area at Tanger. Anyone have a report on their beer? https://www.wzzm13.com/article/news/local/tanger-outlets-announces-entertainment-district-addition-of-5-lakes-brew-pub/69-69488562-d97c-433e-8a0f-4846f71e7647
  18. But now they could sell for 12 - 13 times more than when you talked to them
  19. Was hoping this article was going to say they were able to acquire the Formax building to lock up the entire block. Looks like it could be converted into some nice lofts.
  20. https://www.woodtv.com/news/grand-rapids/saugatuck-brewing-buys-gr-based-creston-brewing/ GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Creston Brewery in Grand Rapids has new ownership. Saugatuck Brewing Company announced Thursday that it bought the brewery on Plainfield Avenue NE at Quimby Street in Grand Rapids’ Creston neighborhood. It said Creston would keep its name and keep serving fan favorites, as well as add Saugatuck brews to the taps.
  21. Some pricey real estate listings with new renderings are up for this project. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/159-S-River-Ave-505-Holland-MI-49423/2075612969_zpid/
  22. Forgive the crude drive-by pic, but wanted to show off Holland's very own tower crane! Corner of River and 7th.
