  1. speaking of Zeeland, just saw this today. Makes sense to try it out in Zeeland as "Woonerf" appears to be a dutch word. This would be right next to the splash pad that was installed a couple years ago. http://www.hollandsentinel.com/news/20170208/living-street-project-in-zeeland-moving-forward
  2. and in a town that was dry for nearly 100 years And if you hit up Zeeland GRLaker, grab dinner at Public. Excellent food. Owner/Chef is the former manager of the 1913 room in GR. PublicZeeland.com
  3. Some Lakeshore updates: Proposed apartments in downtown Holland... http://www.hollandsentinel.com/news/20170203/company-wants-to-demolish-downtown-holland-building-construct-apartments Zeeland Brewery expanding... http://www.hollandsentinel.com/news/20170204/zeelands-tripel-root-wants-to-expand
  4. I believe I know which parcel you are talking about. If you're curious, I believe the prices paid be Arcadia are now up on the Manistee County site. Maybe now the residential development that stalled out a decade ago next to Arcadia Bluffs will see new life?
  5. Heading back up the coast for a bit. Just found the plans for Arcadia Bluffs new course.
  6. Nice little video on that new power plant in Holland mentioned earlier. https://vimeo.com/85761441
  7. I've taken Amtrak into Chicago from Holland once. Then I discovered the South Shore line from Michigan City and will never take it again. Saves us on parking in the city and offers many more departure times.
  8. Ha, small world Pattmost! I follow Alicia on Instagram since I frequently saw posts from her in Onekama (and she takes great pictures!) Had a hunch you may be connected as I saw her post about new land on M22 north of town. Building a cabin soon?
  9. There are currently two 1-bedroom units for sale Joe Two 2 bed units just sold in the past 2 months. Right on crystal clear, spring fed, deep water Portage Lake and a hundred yards from public Lake Michigan shoreline! Can't beat the location. I'm happy with Onekama remaining a sleepy vacation town, but am also happy to get the word out and boost my property value and rental income
  10. Thanks Pattmost20! Love Onekama (1,) and the Portage Lake area. We bought a condo at the Portage Point Inn 2 years ago and was the best purchase of my life so far. The resort was purchased out of foreclosure a few years back and it's new life is starting to take shape. As you guys on here like renderings, you can see the current plans here: http://www.portagepointresort.com/ . The plan is to turn the circa 1912 hotel into more lakefront condos as well. Seems to be a great time to get into the Onekama/Manistee area. Arcadia Bluffs is adding a second golf course a few miles away on M22 and expanding their lodging. The Casino (not that I ever go there) also just expanded. Brand new Meijer in Manistee. New North Channel Brewing and a riverfront condo project opening this spring downtown Manistee. All the beauty of northern Michigan without the Traverse City prices... Hopefully not too off topic as this is a Lakeshore thread
  11. Looks like the first building going up will have a whopping 4 condos! http://www.grbj.com/articles/85529-developer-plans-redevelopment-of-urban-block
  12. And speaking of lakefront, not sure what will be done with the James DeYoung power plant once the new one GRLaker posted above comes online... Maybe re-purpose as small version of the Tate Modern in London?
  13. Phase 1 of this development is also under construction downtown Holland next to the Civic Center property. Will help extend downtown towards Lake Mac. http://www.gdkproperties.com/pdfs/0-Downtown-Holland---Online-Brochure-(4)-website-use-2016.pdf
