  1. We'd have to spend way, way more than those benefits will bring into the city. We shouldn't do what every other city has already done AFTER they have done it. Charlotte will never be the best option for a Super Bowl type event, chasing these is a quixotic waste of money, effort, and time.
  2. Is there a Lamborghini shortage because I can't get one for less than $200K?
  3. Is it likely the Bojangles or Check Cashing lots ever sell for additional development across the street?
  4. Calling this as yet another unsuccessful territory expansion for the Bo.
  5. I definitely need to get used to the autopilot! I never really used cruise control before, so it's definitely a change. I only think to do it when i'm on a perfect road for it and trying to show someone how it works...
  6. I'll answer here and just say, wow, electric cars rule for the city (and really almost every!) use case. Got a Tesla Model 3 about a month ago and am loving it, have taken it on a few day trips. For what I wanted this is really the only choice, we had an SUV, and no kids, so the Y was not as appealing. The new Ford looks pretty good, but it's kind of a weird spot as a small crossover and basically as expensive as the Model 3. On one of the day trips, I drove about 5 hours total, and needed to stop at the Tesla supercharger in Columbia, behind a Hilton Garden Inn, for some charging to get enough range to make it back easiy. 15 minutes, $7. The "one pedal driving" is also very cool although I am not 100% locked in on it yet, but as you get used to using one pedal mode, it is strange to drive a gas car and have it just keep coasting up at things after you take your foot off the gas.
  7. Anyone want to truck in some more historic houses & buildings?
  8. Why should we know and care about this story? I've seen it everywhere, and there is no reason for someone in Charlotte to care about this.

Those SFH (and some duplexes) are all in the historic district though. While a few multi-family developments are going in (Notably the Kingston/West townhomes), these have been moving extremely slowly, and it would be surprising if anyone tried to buy a bunch of SFH with a more speculative development play.
  10. For most everyday trips, this would be a one hour train ride each way, and therefore never get used - Phase 3 of the Gold Line isn't really the standard we should be striving for.
  11. I would say they focus on strange, and often spiced styles. They do a pretty good job, but the lineup is generally a bit out there - basically in the vein of fonta flora, but a smaller lineup (and not as good as FF).
  12. Heady Topper would disagree with this.
  13. What do you think people will be traveling from Charlotte to global financial centers for? Who are the types of people traveling internationally for business, and why will more of them be based in Charlotte in the future? Not to mention, the pandemic may have significantly decreased the long-term demand for international biz travel.
  14. Is it that the place is cursed, or the owners are suspect? Remember some very strange posts with a bunch of drama around the time of the initial opening.

We like that! Hoping post-COVID more stuff continues to move in on Mint.
  16. Legion $100K per week, Robot $100K per month - I was trying to do the math there and was v confused (the article also has employee numbers). Sycamore def seems like they're in the best position given they made so much on the land sale.
  17. huh interesting, may have to actually try going here again now
  18. Weird they would not mention how many people were affected. This has definitely hit the parking world hard as ParkWhiz & SpotHero both had significant furloughs/layoffs as well in response to COVID-19.
  19. lol, Tresata is an utter joke. They constantly need to hire new people, yet never grow, because people all quit due to it being a terrible place to work. Enjoy the Glassdoor reviews: https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Tresata-Reviews-E959659.htm
  20. do you think somehow if restaurants were open, they would get anywhere near the crowds necessary to sustain themselves? They would not.
  21. Sycamore gives people exactly what they want, where & when they want it. This makes it far different than a poorly capitalized brewery with decent beer and a stretch branding in a bad location with no foot traffic. (of which there are probably a few others still existing, and opening in the near future).
  22. JJ's is probably the least impressive hyped local spot. It is just not good and should not exist as this type of semi-seated hot dog concept in an expensive uptown space.
  23. I believe it will be only open for events or overflow.
  24. Interesting, I stopped by the Cornelius location the other day and the beer was not very good, I always remember being impressed with their stuff in the past. Also, King Canary was fantastic. They also have had some major issues (hadn't heard about these until looking up where it was to stop by), but are producing some excellent beer across a range of styles in a cool little spot.
