  1. This is the third year that my wife and I have recorded all the stages of the Tour de France. We're not big cycling enthusiasts, we just love seeing the countryside, the churches, and the beauty of the towns. We turn it on in the evening and weekends, turn the sound down, and enjoy the scenery.
  2. Wow. Just wow. @markhollin, I had no idea those houses were there. Can one get a tour of the neighborhood? My wife and I would love that.
  3. And it was a significant problem for all the residents in The Gulch, LoLa (Pie Town) and SoBro. Train whistles blew all day and all night. With the closing of that crossing, thousands of people sleep better at night. That is good for our health, happiness, life expectancy and productivity.
  4. I agree that residents in this part of town are likely using the transit system and could use this facility. However, I wish this was presented as part of step-by-step plan to address our transit problems, rather than a multi-million dollar project that is presented as "Someone had a cool idea and got the Feds to pay for it!"
  5. Drove by here a couple of days ago and was reminded that the restaurant opening seems to be taking forever.
  6. My wife and I have walked through there about three times in the past few weeks. No more. We now go up and down 11th and avoid 12th.
  7. "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God." Matthew 4:4
  8. ^^^ @jmtunafish, this brought back a lot of memories! Thanks for finding and sharing.
  9. While running downtown this morning, I saw two flatbeds with pieces of a large yellow crane turning from Demonbreun onto 2nd toward KVB. Anyone have an idea where they came from and where they're headed?
  10. It hurts but "Now I have a machine gun. Ho, ho, ho."
  11. I couldn't agree more, Chris. A couple of hours ago, my wife said, "Let's go for a walk." So, we put on our walking shoes, stepped out the door, and saw thousands of tourists having fun. Today felt like a walk through a theme park: people waiting in line to take a pic with a famous pair of wings, vendors selling popsicles and hot dogs, people on bikes, scooters and skateboards, the smells of good food cooking, music pouring out from patios and open doors, and something interesting around every corner. We stopped at the Johnny Cash Museum store and the Downtown Sporting Club just to check things out. We had dozens of choices for coffee or lunch or dessert, if we wanted it. And then back to the peace and quiet of home.
  12. I think the point of the article is that Music City is finding its own path to becoming a global city. People from around the globe feel welcome here and want to be a part of a kind, respectful, talented, welcoming city. Our brand is going global quickly. In today's world of instant fame and empowered individuals, Nashville is becoming a global city. The metrics, measurements and definitions do not matter. It is happening here in a new way.
  13. JW Marriott and Sony Pictures are sponsoring Cinema at JW on certain dates at The Green At JW, the private park on Demonbreun next to the hotel. My wife and I walked by on July 1 and saw a large blow-up screen and several people sitting on the lawn. Food and drink were being prepared and sold by some of the Marriott restaurant staff. The showings are free but you must RSVP at EventBrite. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/cinema-by-jw-tickets-60774277500
  14. @markhollin, don't forget to add two to your final number; my wife and I watched from our balcony in Terrazzo.
  15. Total vehicles miles driven the U.S. barely budged during and after the Great Recession. They did not resume an upward trend until 2014 or so. Comparing the two graphs, miles driven was rising steadily from 1990 to 2009 while pedestrian deaths were decreasing significantly.
  16. This development could help the people of Music City get on the water. Before we had roads and railroads, the rivers were our highways. Nashville could benefit by using the river in new ways.
  17. That growth rate is phenomenal. BNA better accelerate its building projects.
  18. Yes. A pedestrian was struck and killed this weekend while crossing five lane Old Hickory Boulevard at night in a non-intersection location. https://www.newschannel5.com/news/pedestrian-killed-after-being-struck-by-vehicle-on-old-hickory-blvd
  19. The Store made the cover of Belmont U's spring magazine.
