Prepare to be underwhelmed. What I've seen is a 12 story tower over a 5 floor garage.

According to the NCDOT traffic volume map it only carries around 4800 cars per day. Seems expendable to me!

It's 13 floors (9 above 4 parking levels) but multifamily now instead of office. Still has grocery on first floor. I wonder how much the architecture will change now?

Yeah, I remember this being done to the old Fat City in NoDa and to the storefronts on Park Ave in South End. It's much better than nothing.

People complain that most of the history in Charlotte was razed by previous generations yet we make the same justification now when new development is proposed to replace old building stock.

I place a lot of the blame with the general assembly. 25% of the blue line was paid for with state funds. Now we're asking whether they will even let us hold a sales tax referendum much less help with funding.

So they gave up on screening the one corner of the deck facing S. Blvd? I feel like the towers are great but at the same time they will continue to encourage the removal of the smaller scale brick structures that give South End some of its charm.

This is just a crazy bad plan. That land is so valuable. They could build so many more affordable units in a good location somewhere else.

I will admit, I don't know much about private equity firms but when they are involved, it seems many retailers get run into the ground. You have to wonder if Belk would have been better off on its own.

These photos are amazing! It's not pretty but is definitely interesting to look at. I like the top 6 or 7 floors and all of the retail. The rest of the building looks like cheap painted EIFS.

The Charlotte Moves Task Force is looking at something like what passed in Austin as a way forward. The referendum might include infrastructure other than transit.

It seems incredibly costly to finish construction and then come back in a year or two to complete. Wouldn't they need to remove the elevator and put the crane back in? Would the crane be located in the street instead?

Mecklenburg has a relatively small proportion of pre 1950 housing stock, almost 5% of the over 400,000 housing units. It's actually quite rare to live in something built before 1950. Anyway, I still believe preservation of this building is quite important and that it should be repurposed and not destroyed. The same argument to tear down Hall House is the same one that has been made for the past 60+ years when buildings were destroyed. It's old, it's dated, something modern will be so much better, etc. When does it stop?

Cool. What I meant was how the Hearst frontage on Tryon is anchored by a big tower at the terminus and has human scale storefronts lining it. So far, Legacy feels sterile in comparison.

I was hoping for Hearst (Truist) Plaza part 2 at Legacy but so far that does not appear to be the plan.

The red LED accent lighting on the Levine deck is spectacular.

This has zero to do with the election this year. Most of the planet is dealing with and reacting to this virus in a similar manner. Except the UK, they don't seem to know what they're doing!

I believe it has 3 basement levels and a vault. They should be going down around 40' for at least a portion of the site.
