From permitting app: Sounds a little different from renderings we've seen so far. "Ten Tryon will be a mixed-use high-rise located on North Tryon Street, between 9th and 10th Streets. It will have a three level parking garage over a ground floor grocery store. There will be a large open-air terrace on top of the parking garage with a single story restaurant/entertainment building on the 10th Street end, and an office tower on the 9th Street end. The project will be phased and submitted for permits in separate packages. Phase 1 will include Levels 1-6, which includes the grocery shell, parking, and additional shell/core spaces for the office tower, Level 6 restaurant, and ground level retail. Phase 2 will include the office tower and upfit of spaces associated with that use in Phase 1."

UNC Charlotte students trying to avoid paying for parking would be my guess.

Was that deck built to support a tower? Curious how they will demo part of it if that is the case. A+ architecture in the rendering.

Optical illusion with the plain gray panels on that side. -
They could play at a college stadium somewhere for 2-3 years while BOA is torn down and rebuilt. If he puts a substantial amount of $ towards it I'm not entirely opposed.

It's supposed to be thin brick, which makes me wonder if that is what the existing garage is clad with. It's basically brick tile. -
What is going on with the stadium in that photo? It looks like they photoshopped a partial roof over it.

The three biggest X's facing each direction should be red neon.

Honeywell will be 23 floors and 331'. I think the penthouse part bumped the height a tad from the original stated 306'. -
Charlotte to surpass Raleigh area in tech jobs? I find this hard to believe but what a coup if true! https://www.wfae.org/post/bizworthy-charlotte-pace-surpass-raleigh-area-tech-jobs

I still think they build a new tower one day once the merger is finalized. It may just be 5 years from now. They needed immediate headquarters space and it was obvious they weren't getting a new tower designed and built in a year.

I'm hoping that with the effort it took to put together this construction phasing video that the time for value engineering is rapidly coming to a close. I am so geeked out about this project. With the lobby expansion being constructed in phases, I'm hoping that we see some major changes in about two years. It's unfortunate that we have to wait 5 years to see it all complete but after watching the video I see why this will take so long.

Not getting all the hate for this one. The top of the building will add interest to the skyline. Look at Ally Center, the crown feature is just mechanical screening. -
76% leased? Should have built an additional 10 floors!
-
The apartment tower is supposed to be 16 floors, meaning it could be a bit taller or about the same as the 11 story office building.

LU3 looks to be 23 floors and a bit over 300'. It will definitely be parking podium with retail on first floor and office above. No idea what it will look like but at that height it doesn't seem to have a crown feature. -
Southend (lately) is getting much higher quality architecture than downtown. My worry is that Sycamore becomes a victim eventually and gets torn down for a highrise. It's 1.5 acres of prime land.

Accela now showing early mass grading permit request.

Follow up on my earlier post - 14 story hotel and office space for the above mentioned project. Not sure if it's all in one building or not. Ballantyne is slowly going through the same density and infill changes that Southpark has witnessed. I would be more excited about projects like this if transit were available here.

Companies buying Duke or just buying their deck?

I like this project a lot but the placement of the office tower, hotel and corner plaza reminds me a lot of the 1974 Bank of America Plaza and Omni hotel at the square.
