  1. Why do these even exist? As I said before, football (including the SB) should be played outdoors.
  2. I'd like to see AT&T commit to moving the switching station to a more secure site (or sites).
  3. Guess I'll be driving to the south side to get my black bean salad fix from now on.
  4. What does this mean, exactly? It is a travesty in its current form and function and has to be fixed. It is pretty much the same design it was when it was built back in the 50s with a few improvements here and there. Basically it is the south loop that has to be fixed along with all of the interstate bridges that are too short, too narrow and are of a bad design. One way to fix this is to double deck the interstate on the south loop with through traffic either above or below with no exits. This would include all truck traffic. Revamp truckers curve, the scene of so many wrecks due to bad design as well. All interstate interchanges need to be overhauled so there is no crisscrossing of traffic. It is confusing, dangerous and the person that came up with the design should be hung in effigy. The best example is below. Another element would be to fix the Cluster that is the stretch that runs from the I24/40 spilt east of town into and out of downtown. You have two major interstates that have just under two mile to switch from two lanes over to the other two lanes. What were they thinking? Some of that could be fixed if they rerouted I 24 onto Briley, eight lane the portion between the current I 24 to the current 8 lane section of Briley, then extending Briley to continue at the current I 24 SE of the current I 24 - 40 split. Then all of the I 24 traffic through downtown is eliminated. I'd rather we spent the money on transit.
  5. I'd be OK with MLB coming to Nashville if they agreed to take no public money and play at the Sounds stadium until its debt is retired.
  6. I don't consider Cheekwood to be public art since there is an admission fee. Pretty though.
  7. What does Maryland have to do with this? I like a good burger but have never had Whataburger. Can anyone explain what makes them special? I'm a Hugh Baby's fan FWIW. Most of the articles I've been recently claim this fleeing is significantly overstated.
  8. The name 'Windy City' comes from the tendency of Chicago's politicians to be long winded, not the weather. Unless you are in the one under Dave Matthews' tour bus.
  9. Really? Do we need to result to insults and put downs? I'd think he'd test the waters first by running for an at-large CM seat.
  10. This is the first time I've heard of this district. Is a new designation? Re-branding? I'm often suspicious of re-brandings.
  11. Why do you say that? OM provides the city with much more revenue. Mills projects are often built next to major super regional/national level attractions. The only other area in Nashville that would qualify is downtown. Nashville = Opryland Hotel. Charlotte = NASCAR track.
  12. MN had 2.1 million in a state 1/5 the size.
  13. This report is a load of hogwash. The numbers were reported on in August. There's been no cover up.
  14. The current budget included nearly a quarter billion $$ in cuts to programs and grants. Increases in health insurance costs would eat up all (and more) of this every year. I agree. I think what they really want is to force Metro into receivership and a State takeover.
  15. I mean its been 100 years since the last one, so odds are this will be our one and only. <crosses fingers>
  16. The dailymail is kind of a rag though isn't it? John Cleese rails against it on twitter pretty regularly.
  17. Paper and gold are exactly the same. Both are valued because we agree they have value. In fact you can argue that paper has more value because it has the power of the American economy (or European economy etc...) backing it up.
  18. The only divisive thing Obama did was be a Black guy who was elected President. On issues of policy he was decidedly centrist.
