  1. I told y'all we reopened too early. Now we need to go back to Ph1 until this crap is under control. Protests: outdoors + lots of masks = few infections. Bars: indoors + no masks = many infections.
  2. I went to SLC in 1989. It was the cleanest big city I'd ever seen.
  3. The total $$'s taken in by Metro cannot increase as a result of a reappraisal/reassessment. Increases voted on by Council are perfectly legal. This. Prior to last night's vote Metro's property tax rate was the lowest in history. The rate didn't change based on location, the amount paid did. Places that appreciated faster than the county average saw an increase, those growing more slowly, a decrease. As I understand it the policy of not increasing the total $$s via reappraisal is to avoid 'stealth' tax increases via appraisal. Instead the local has to vote on an increase.
  4. The study was done recently, the data is from 2018. I assume its much like the delay in Census data. The bureau has to wait until a year is complete to start putting the data together, which itself takes another 6 months to a year.
  5. Thanks for the info everyone. I had assumed that since the sign is on an empty lot, it was a new project. My mistake.
  6. That's where we are headed currently. Allowing? Protest is constitutionally protected speech (and btw most protestors are wearing masks). Also, equating a constitutional right with eating in a restaurant is absurd. The State could mandate mask wearing (its been done in other states) but Lee cares only about the all mighty $. I think Cooper has done an OK job given the pressures put upon him. His only major mistake was moving to quickly through the phases.
  7. Do you (or anyone here) know anything about the 'Canvas' mixed use development on Gallatin north of the McDonalds? There's a sign there which has gone up recently.
  8. Cases are headed up. We reopened too early IMO. Getting people to go back to a stay at home mindset in the summertime is gonna be a real challenge.
  9. Are the employees there wearing face masks? Because they aren't (not all of them) at Sinkers in Inglewood.
  10. Ellington's connection to the interstates downtown is much more problematic than you'd think. It needs to connect to the interstates, S 5th and Spring Street without encroaching on the CSX line which runs right through the area. I agree that the intersection should be reworked, but it won't be an easy fix.
  11. Nashville's suburban counties (Rutherford & Williamson among them) have impact fees and it doesn't seem to have slowed them down any.
  12. That mall generates a ton of sales tax revenue for the city. Way more than a theme park.
  13. Nashville MSA GDP: $132B. Birmingham MSA GDP: $62B.
  14. My interpretation is that Phase 1 could start no earlier than May 15.
  15. KY does have the highest rate of smoking in the country. Plus plenty of coal workers with already damaged lungs. Just spitballing.
  16. Has it been proven that those who've recovered from COVID19 have immunity to it? I'm not certain it has.
  17. Given what I've been reading, I hope the Stay at Home orders remain in place through at least Jun 1. If we reopen too early it'll be like going back to square one and I don't want to have to go through this again in mid-late Summer.
  18. Those look more like engineering vehicles than tanks.
