  1. if this is the same line i'm thinking of if they could have a stop on old laurens road by ccht and cat in foutain inn youd better bet i'd be riding it every day.
  2. I saw something either in another thread or in the news about the Riverplace Parking deck would be open to the public at the end of the month. Now my question is say if I come downtown one night for like Fall for Greenville or something and the only available parking was the RiverPlace parking deck, where is the entrance to this thing? Is it really underground like they said it was gonna be or just below street level?
  3. Ahah, It's all so clear now. Makes sense, can't wait to see the "actual" design.
  4. What does this mean for GSP, if they sold the airline that operates the flights out of there to AirWest? Does that mean AirWest will take thier place there or will they just be gone altogether?
  5. Maybe they read our posts and saw that they needed to redisign the roof , I myself didnt see anything wrong with because although flat is not all that attractive, it was more rounded off and not boxed or angled like most everything else. I liked it the way it was but if they do change it to a more spire type roof that would be nice too.
  6. There is also a sign for Shoeless Joe Jackson historical marker I believe the field is dedicated to him I know. The sign is on West Pendleton. Thats where Brandon Mill is.
  7. Also I believe that the West End was established before downtown really grew so at the time it was west but downtown grew up and it wound up being more south than west.
  8. thats about like 26 being an east-west interstate and 85 being north-south, it should be the other way around because of obvious reasons. some things there are just no answers for. i think i might have an idea though. cities generally like to designate regions using only one direction, ie eastside, west end, west greenville, ect. so they take the one that makes the least since and take it off. if it where named for its true location it would be the southwest end or south west greenville they might have took the south off because it was more west than south and it just made more sense.
  9. The news about Indepenance is not cool. I would hate for this to happen, but if it does where they have to cut airports from list, does anyone think that JetBlue or Southwest would be waiting to jump right in and snatch up GSP or would have an adverse effect on the airlines? That worries me if they leave then the prices will skyrocket and I'll have to drive to Atlanta or Charlotte to fly again. Can someone ellaborate on this one?
  10. The West Pendleton Street area is known as West Greenville, and yes you are correct "Shoeless" Joe Jackson did grow up nearby by in the Brandon Mill village. Basically the area is the epicenter of about 3 old mill villages; Brandon Mill, Judson, and Monaghan if I'm not mistaken. Also Parker so 4 mill villages. Thats about all I know. Theres a sign on West Pendleton guiding you to "Shoeless" Joe Jackson memorial baseball field, which I believe is where the mill from which the Brandon Mill village namesake is taken. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me.
  11. I know thats why GSP is first, most of the cargo in Charleston is military not so much civilian although some civilian 747's like Polar Air, and Evergreen to mention a few use the Air Force base to off-load their cargo. I was just speaking in generalities as far as air traffic goes Chas is right up there in 2nd place, I'm not trying to dethrone GSP because as a citizen of this great region we call The Upstate it's a source of pride that we have 2 of the busiest airports in the state and are one of the fastest growning regions in the country. I just don't see Columbia having as much air traffic as GSP and Chas repsectively. I'm not stating a fact that Columbia is forth, just basing my judgement on personal experience. Sorry for the confusion. GSP is the Greatest in my own personal opinion, and I've been around the world Atl, Chicago, LAX, Sea-Tac, Osaka, DFW, and the list goes on and on and GSP is 2nd to NONE. Keep up the marvelous work. I hope they break 2 million this year and continue on the up and up.
  12. Columbia may have a lot of traffic but I do believe Charleston has got it beat. Theres always something in the air waiting to land or just took off. Columbia could be 4th.
  13. Brad I have a question for ya, where do you find this Count Line News at? Also has anyone heard anymore about Jet Blue?
  14. I would venture to say Charleston because of the beaches and all the sites it gets a lot of tourism, and also the Air Force base, theres always planes flying in and out of there. For GSP to be busier than Charleston honestly suprised me, pleasantly I might add, theres a lot of cargo planes flying in and out of Charleston which I believe comprises most of its flights.
  15. I, being in the Air Force Reserves, have flown out of GSP in a C-17 which is about half the size of a C-5 but still by all accounts bigger than most that fly in and out of GSP, and yes Air Force One is a 747. I saw mention of Soutwest, are they eyeballing us again or was that what they wanted when they origianlly approached? Well I'm off to Chucktown I'll check back on Monday. Have a safe weekend.
  16. I was watching TV earlier and saw a commercial for GSP, well I heard it was in the other room, nontheless I believe thats the first time I've ever heard or seen a commercial, usually only in print. That might mean some big bussiness for them now because television reaches a bigger audience than does the newspaper.
  17. They say the facade has "European Character" Myself I don't see it. It's an eyesore and if they dont tear it down, maybe the termites will bring it down, lol. I think just because somerhing is built a long time ago doesn't necessarily make it "historical" It should have some signifigance, and this building has none at all.
  18. The Pinnacle Club is going to be like a spa and health club.
  19. It is my belief that the building that is going up at Main & Broad is the building mentioned by Bob Ellis as the 14 story tower that he was developing. Because he mentioned a bank and I cant remember where I read it, but I read that the newly started Independance Bank is going to be on the ground floor of that building at Main & Broad.
  20. Has there been anything mentioned on whether they chose a site for the new federal courthouse yet? If its on the gateway site it would have to be something like 20+ floors I believe if so that would be an awsome addition.
  21. I havent been on for a while and wow is there a lot going on. I was happy as heck when I read about the new possibly tallest building in SC planned for Falls street. Looks like the upward trend continues.
  22. I hear the Verdae development is going to be set up like Daniel Island in Charleston, was there last summer I must say its really nice out there. I think that would be greatfor that area doing something like that and not another strip mall on steroids.
  23. Drove by the stadium site Friday and the activity is really picking up, can't wait to see the finished product.
  24. Thank you Spartan for that bit of information. I dont feel so dumb anymore. LOL.
  25. I'm not really up to speed on the lingo , so please excuse my ignorance. Is that the same thing? Not sure.
