Even if they could replicate the former train station with that old tower (found in that beautiful photo book of old Charlotte) that was torn down in the early 60s.....that would look fantastic!

What's the prognosis on the Brandywine (behind Park Road Shopping Center) part of the greenway?

When I was a little boy in the 50s/60s my father who was very good friends with Harry Golden use to visit him in the house across from CPCC or on land that is now more of CPCC. I can remember when we would visit him there was no place to sit on account of all of the many stacks of books. They would always get into a yelling match, at least that's the part I remember. One time my dad got a phone call and grabbed me and said we were going to the airport. He drove me out to the old Douglas Municipal Airport and there in the lobby was Harry Golden waiting to board a plane with his dear friend, CARL SANDBURG! Mr. Sandburg hugged my head and kissed me all over my face. He signed a copy of his book, Abraham Lincoln: To Carl Warren (my first and middle name) from Carl Sandburg. I wish I had been old enough to appreciate the moment and I really wish that CPCC had saved that house!

Hey KJH (or whomever may have a valid answer, usually KJH) , If all of the construction projects at the airport are partially funded by Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) Revenues and Customer Facility Charge (CFC) Revenues, is it possible that this may cause some "slow-down"? I sure hope that's not the case but for the airport and for that matter all of the great projects downtown that are funded by hedge funds and large bank construction loans , I sure hope we don't get something like that unfinished hotel project on Kings Drive back in the late 60s and early 70s. That thang was sho ugly!

A little help: Have both Concourse B & C now been remodeled or just B? I see that (old) A has been done but I kinda forgot if C was or not? Just interested.

Why don't they just sell the air rights above I-277 between Lynx and Mint Street and let the developers include park land in their amazing overhead projects?

How about stealing from a 7 Eleven or finding someone's wallet with money and credit cards? How are you going to handle those "free rides"? The app may have issues but after all of that investment trying to give folks mass transit in Charlotte it's a shame you want a pat on the back for taking advantage of a flaw in the system. It's a slippery slope. Get off of it.

imho, Raze the education building, refurbish Marshall Park , put the Stonewall property back on the market. What a waste of time it is when the city gets involved with an out of town developer to do ANYTHING!

This is a highly interesting topic. Do you (all UPers) mean to say that after this Hawthorn bridge began reconstruction it subsequently had to be reconstructed again (because of design mistakes) and they still haven't taken the Silver Line into consideration ?? Isn't there usually one particular managing engineer for each of these projects that can address this important overlooked issue? I'm not trying to be facetious. That sounds like a fourth rebuild!

Growing up in Charlotte since 1954 I am amazed. Tryon, a smidgen of Trade Street and College Street were the home of virtually every skyscraper. Now, almost all east/west streets that intersect Tryon Street between Stonewall and 11th/12th have multiple skyscrapers. I am filled with pride. Keep taking great shots, KJ.
