  1. Let’s Get BRT going first. However I do agree with an extension of Trolley line it’s needed in that corridor and beyond. Kamala Harris Vp states that memphis definitely needs infrastructure federal money let’s see if they can obtain those funds and leverage them to not only pave roads but also extend light rail service. We need our next mayor to be serious about developing and connecting our infrastructure from downtown/ Midtown to Airport and all the way ( commuter rail) to blue oval city
  2. I have long been an advocate for CA site becoming site for New Soccer stadium. The issue is acquiring the site. 20 million is the asking price. I’m not sure Peter feund, Craig Unger and Tim Howard are prepared financially for that type huge investment. City of Memphis will not imo fork out 20 mill either. They received 350 million from state if they were to leverage that cash in the bond market that may allow for a purchase of the site. I don’t believe that’s the city plan. Remember 901 fc has plans @ their expenses to have soccer fields/ academy/ women pro team and league 3 team. That’s a huge financial investment for a young franchise. The issue is how to make the CA site a reality for SSS, not that it’s not an ideal site
  3. Agreed! BRT is already a go now we need light rail from downtown/ midtown/Airport to happen it’s been planned for years now with blue oval building and bringing 6,000 + jobs and federal government monies available for Transportation development along with MATA supporting rail infrastructure This is our opportunity to capitalize. Sorry Nashville but Blue oval will be the winner in this. Ford executives have come out publicly advocating for rail from Memphis to Stanton. What Ford wants they will get its Big business
  4. Tdot exploring a Memphis to Nashville Amtrak route. Hope this happens. https://www.laprensalatina.com/could-tdot-help-secure-a-memphis-to-nashville-amtrak-line/amp/
  5. Agreed! That would really be a smart move and definitely make spring football league more financially stable
  6. There was no funds allocated for new soccer stadium . Hopefully city leaders will see the stadium needs to go downtown. Union row would be amazing location. I’m still a proponent for the CA site in the Edge District as well either way would be great as long as it’s in the downtown area
  7. Glad to see LB & FedEx Forum will be getting funds. As far as the soccer stadium proposal: This project should be in the downtown core. Either @ the CA site or part of the union row development. Union row has faced uncertainty due to financial conditions currently. A stadium could bring the equity/ bonds needed to complete the project 13 acres for stadium 17 acres for scaled down version of apts, hotels etc.
  8. As far as soccer stadium I’m and advocate for a new soccer stadium for 901 fc however it clearly needs to be downtown not @ the site of MSC. Union row (The Walk) has about 30 acres and have faced serious financial difficulties. If there could be an agreement for about 13 acres dedicated to a soccer specific stadium the rest to Apts/ hotel etc as previously proposed that could help bonds to be issued and may move the site forward.
  9. No I didn’t see it I’m out of free articles can u copy and paste it for review.
  10. I would be happy if we can get downtown/Airport rail and commuter rail to blue oval city.
  11. Excellent idea! I would love to see rail extension into MI however cost and pushback from harbor town residents may make it prohibited
  12. It’s great to hear they are moving forward with the cleaning of 100 N Main. Under the current state of affairs with construction cost soaring it’s encouraging to see them stick with the project. Timeline of 2026 to complete seems doable if there are no unexpected hurdles. Fingers crossed
  13. Yea I saw that it was voted down by the citizens. Rail can be extremely controversial and also expensive. The Amtrak from Nashville to Atlanta/ to Memphis is probably more likely in Nashville versus light rail.
  14. Yes it did, Blue oval has opened the door of rail possibilities. Would love to see this happen for the future of my children/ grandchildren. There are a lot of hurdles to this we all know funding is the # 1 issue however the Biden trillion dollar plan could help. Mata president is on board with rail lets see if the next Mayor will be willing to find funds to contribute with federal funds to make this real
  15. Agreed!! I had been posting that a long time! The owners want 20 million for the site. A lot is happening behind the scenes with the proposed MSC liberty park proposal not sure Lame duck Mayor Strickland will get the 684 million from state he requested. Also it will need city council approval to tear down MSC and build not sure they will do that
  16. Ok group just wanted to mention this and get u guys input. MLR is planning to expand is Memphis a good potential Market and would we support rugby here thoughts everyone: https://www.mlrtennessee.com/why-tennessee
  17. That’s what I was thinking and hoping for. Great decision to put it there instead of auto zone park
  18. I was looking @ design plans for LB and saw a proposed 6600 SF hall of fame. Does anyone have more details about this HOF???
  19. The mayor and 901 fc owners have proposed tearing down Mid south coliseum and building new soccer stadium in its place. It’s talked about with pics etc in the sports forum on this page
  20. Yea it’s just to secure the site however Paul young mentioned that 2023 u may see Grand Hyatt return. It’s going to be interesting to follow but I do believe it will eventually get done.
  21. Here is a video of a commuter rail in salt lake. This is similar to what Mata is proposing to blue oval.
  22. There are peer cities that have proposed or built commuter rails around same distance that Mata has proposed to blue oval. Durham NC has a 48 mile line proposal currently. Here’s some info. https://www.wral.com/amp/proposed-43-mile-commuter-line-from-durham-would-cost-up-to-3-2-billion-gotriangle-leaders-say/20344960/ Here is the full feasibility report: https://www.readyforrailnc.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/GTCR_Feasibility-Study-Summary-Report.pdf
