  1. Yes I agree. Was checking out the Joseph in Nashville a luxury collection hotel. A brand like that for Sterick would be ideal. Let’s see what the new owners/ developers decide right now it’s being pitched as apts, restaurant, retail but that could change
  2. Here’s another look https://www.bargedesign.com/news/city-walk-bham-master-plan-design-wins-acec-alabama-eea-grand-award?fbclid=IwAR2oG57thc5vqSeWpmgo0XafeXP6f3L66SC4NKzQRzG9v-aoxysIzY7tIU4&mibextid=Zxz2cZ
  3. Was doing some research and stumbled across Birmingham City walk built on 31 acres under I59/20 bridge. Was wondering where if any place in Memphis is there a underpass bridge that u could model something like this. It a very exciting and interesting project with a lot of family fun things to do and would be ideal for Memphis, IMO https://citywalkbham.com/?mibextid=Zxz2cZ https://www.facebook.com/CityWalkBham?mibextid=LQQJ4d
  4. There is a plan for apts and community space Vance & Danny Thomas in the now historic Griggs Business college building. https://storyboardmemphis.org/featured-story/griggs-business-college-building-and-the-ell-persons-lynching-site-move-to-final-step-toward-historic-national-register-listings/
  5. Yes we need to get federal funds to extend it down Madison thru Overton square/ liberty park to airport
  6. The walk why a great concept and design. May have been way too ambitious to begin with. It’s puzzling Covid aside they could have @ least did half the project by now, with all the city/county incentives they received they were in good position to move forward now it’s just prime vacant property in wait and see mode. Smdh
  7. Yes it will take sometime for Sterick Redo to happen. I’m just hoping that a five star hotel component will be a part of it. Hilton Conrad would be nice
  8. Agreed if it’s not one of those luxury 5 stars it’s a definite slap in the face. I believe Sheraton has JW Marriott plans for there expansion so Renaissance would make a lot if sense
  9. Yes 100NMain is close in proximity to CC so it’s perfect for overflow rooms. Sheraton has plans that have been approved to renovate and build additional 300 room hotel. Which would make it 900 rooms with crosswalk and trolley access
  10. No real details about a hotel component just residential is what keeps getting mentioned. That and a restaurant in the old bank
  11. Yes it will invigorate that corridor of downtown. It’s very close to the up and coming edge district and should attract more developers to that area as well it’s truly a rising tide to lift all boats type project.
  12. There is nothing like it in Memphis probably not in the Mid south region period. It’s one of a kind. Queen of the south
  13. Yes the building is not in horrible condition. They installed a second ceiling for fire safety and it can be removed hopefully the original marble ceiling is under there intact
  14. This video mentioned the bank has layout for a restaurant. https://wreg.com/news/take-a-look-inside-the-sterick-building-new-owner-plans-bright-future/
  15. I remember a lot of people commenting that the ceiling height in the building was not conducive to having hotel rooms. Glad the article gave clarity that second ceiling was added to original ceiling and that can be removed. Good news and clarification
  16. This is going to be a great redevelopment I noticed the article mentioned possible hospitality use. Not sure if that’s referring to a hotel component of something else
  17. Here are the initial plans slated for Sterick. https://www.commercialappeal.com/story/money/business/development/2023/04/04/downtown-memphis-development-sterick-building-new-owners/70069205007/
  18. Agree on luxury hotel primary use would love to see a St Regis type brand come into the market. Could also have conference space, condos up top plus retail / restaurant lower level.
  19. Interesting idea I agree on both fronts comedy district and definitely a food hall would be a great concept. Let’s see how creative they get with this development I agree we need something new and innovative not the usual retail chain stuff. Sterick is such an amazing structure it needs vibrancy and mass appeal. A food hall would be amazing!
  20. It’s going to be a rising tide to lift all boats type development
  21. It’s all on them. They stated in the article there is also national interest and LRK laid out a 40 page vision plan for what it needs to become. This is going to be the next sears crosstown redo a mini vertical village, Retail/ apts/ office/ hotel
  22. Yes, we have strong history in adaptive reuse. Chisca hotel, TN Brewery, Sears Crosstown, currently 100NMain restoration. Now Sterick coming online. Hopefully we will see Mid - South Coliseum renovated and reused. Fingers crossed on that.
  23. I hope to see a mixed- use office/ hotel/ condo/apts development for Sterick. MBJ stated there was national involvement in the renovation plans so let’s see what that could become. Amazing day and big for Memphis
  24. Read the article in MBJ, glad to see this finally happening. This is a rising tide to lift all boats development.
