  1. There are peer cities that have proposed or built commuter rails around same distance that Mata has proposed to blue oval. Durham NC has a 48 mile line proposal currently. Here’s some info. https://www.wral.com/amp/proposed-43-mile-commuter-line-from-durham-would-cost-up-to-3-2-billion-gotriangle-leaders-say/20344960/ Here is the full feasibility report: https://www.readyforrailnc.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/GTCR_Feasibility-Study-Summary-Report.pdf
  2. Yes I saw this. Would i would love to see next is the study for Light rail from downtown to blue oval city maybe a tram/commuter rail
  3. Agreed and we continue to see developments going forward mobility center, Orleans station, liberty Park etc all broke ground and completed or almost completed even in our small “tepid “ market 2023 will see more ground breaking.
  4. Lol he does need to post in another forum maybe the Nashville forum would like to hear why many of there projects have stalled recently in the fastest growing metro that’s hugely becoming overcrowded and major traffic congestion issues. He should read the Nashville paper and see how many projects have been proposed but not able to break ground because of financial shortfalls.
  5. I see your point but I think it’s inevitable something will get done with redevelopment of the building. A mixed use concept Hotel/ condo/ restaurant/ bar other uses. 2025 is not that far away so we may hear about movement in 2024 on a redevelopment plan.
  6. Makes perfect sense to me, not sure why they were looking @ Pat o brien in first place however I’m not a developer but it only makes sense to put it in a available lot right next to cafe.
  7. I would love to see them put the Hotel right next to the cafe it’s just makes sense.
  8. I get that, keep in mind the old daisy across the street is available for that option as well and would not require as much renovation and relocation
  9. Yea I understand that. I would love to see it become HOB as well. Apparently HOB doesn’t have any interest in that location why I don’t know I have emailed and wrote HOB no response to date.
  10. News broke today the New daisy will reopen Jan 12. It’s now city owned and DMC is managing the concerts and shows let’s cross our fingers that it will stay open. https://www.commercialappeal.com/story/entertainment/music/2022/12/29/beale-street-downtown-memphis-new-daisy-theatre-reopening/69765112007/.
  11. Yes I saw the Vic is being built in that place. However they are a state funded institution my understanding is they were awarded 2.5 million in federal Covid dollars so they can move forward with there 2025 strategic growth plans. There may also be some city funds available to the thru DMC, so let’s see if they can get this done. Would make a lot of sense for the CA building to become a part of there campus it’s so close in proximity. Here’s a link https://www.southwest.tn.edu/stories/news/2022/aug11.php
  12. Been talking with some lead developers in the edge district about the possibilities of adaptive reuse for CA building word is Southwest TN College has strong interest in building to expand there campus. Welcome center and office/ conference space has been mentioned as there interest, however that would still leave what to do with 148,000 Sf warehouse which I still hope a developer would invest in a Distllery( Big River). Food hall and entertainment, bowling, living room theater, pool, arcade etc. here’s some research I pulled about SWTCC.
  13. It’s been a long time coming!! Glad it’s breaking ground
  14. Glad to hear it’s moving forward. https://www.localmemphis.com/amp/article/news/local/construction-begins-memphis-topgolf-location/522-b6237d7e-71b2-4134-8062-2bb9d5cd1b46
  15. Hope so, it was first announced in 2018. But better to do it right and give that wow factor than just put what u can for now.
  16. This is disappointing news. Thought intrator was more equipped and prepared than this. This puts a huge question mark surrounding him and his ability to do a project like Dream. We shall see what happens
  17. UTHSC has a good master plan. One thing I would love to see them add is a Culinary institution there are no Culinarily schools in downtown Memphis and it would help elevate them into the top 2O schools with this addition. The CA building is a prime candidate for such an institution. It’s proximity to main campus is very good and would give young aspiring chefs/ hospitality management students an excellent career path.
  18. Yes the building is 276,000 Sf. It’s definitely a candidate for adaptive reuse. CA building could become the primary entertainment complex in the edge. You could have a food hall and wine cellar has a 14,000 Sf basement. I have pitched this idea to a few developers they like the concept however we all know money is the great equalizer to all great ideas. I’m hopeful the bond markets will turn around soon. That building is in a prime spot adjacent to the proposed walk development on union residential and hotel also the recently announced rise on the ravine residential units, Orleans station is almost completed so this adds population, growth and foot traffic to the edge not to mention opera Memphis will be locating there soon bringing their audience to the edge. what’s missing is mixed use entertainment that’s y CA building is so important it’s positioned to be a rising Tide.
  19. Yes Meeting, banquets rooms/ event center also culinary school. Similar To CIA. Possibly Southwest or UT could have their culinary school inside. Here is an example https://culinary.campusmaps.com/#!UMAP_2014091014554
  20. Yea I agree the Walk is a game changer hopefully it will break ground 2023. It will change the face of downtown Memphis forever.
  21. CA property could be a rising tide to lift all boats type mixed use development. Would love to see a culinary conference center, along with railroad museum/ distillery (Big River) arcade with duck pin bowling possibly movie theater (Indie Memphis) would be a great entertainment complex
  22. NFL has always been my dream. City would have to be willing to invest 500-600 million into a 2 billion dollar dome. That’s where the sticking point is. If we are to ever be a NFL city our city leaders are going to have to be willing to go all out on a state of the art stadium.!
