I think at the end of the day Amazon has already narrowed it down to a few cities internally, i personally believe Charlotte meets all the criteria to be one of those finalists, at that point it'll just come down to who gives the best incentives... The past in regards to HB2 won't make any difference if the money is there

I wonder if American will maintain their seasonal route if that happens... or will they increase it to year round service. They will be part of the same One World Alliance by that point right?

I am really pleasantly surprised that the space will not be used for advertising. For an airport that relies on being cost effective and stretch every penny it gets, good for CLT on finding a way to get something like this done... Also I'm really surprised they're putting this much emphasis on a non-American Airlines concourse. I know they are doing some major work for American Airlines dedicated space too but still, I don't know if they are doing art like this

I actually don't see why they couldn't make the existing knights uptown ballpark into an MLB stadium. You just take part of the park up to where Poplar is, you take the 225 S Mint block, and the empty grass field on the existing ballpark site. I know the logistics of taking land from the park are difficult, and also I think the 225 S Mint lot if I remember from another thread is slated to be developed, but why not prevent that lot from being developed for the time being and see if Charlotte can land an MLB team... My proposal would probably be impossible but I'm waiting for someone much smarter than me to tell me there is no way it can happen

I could be wrong about this but isn't it more likely than not that this block will be a typical stick-podium building so that the shadow of the building doesn't effect the ballpark? Again I could be completely wrong but this would make sense to me...

I don't get why Delta would build up RDU when they dehubbed Memphis. And if they move the LHR flight to RDU would American discontinue their LHR flight (I know they have that corporate contract but maybe Delta would pick that up)? That may be good for Charlotte because AA loyalists would come to Charlotte instead of going through RDU... but maybe that won't make a difference for people wanting to take a direct flight for convenience and they'll just switch to Delta

At 525 that would make it taller than BOFA Plaza building which is at 503 and shorter than the Vue at 560, which make it the 6th tallest. That is awesome for this site!

In the United States both Seattle and Miami surpassed Charlotte too... Charlotte lost about 1% of total passengers compared to 2015. The last time Charlotte gained significant growth was from 2012 to 2013 at over 5%. Charlotte and Phoenix were the only two of the AA hubs in the top 50 worldwide airports to lose overall passengers from the year before (Philadelphia and Washington National are the two hubs not in the top 50).

Just a random note and this may have been already mentioned... The city may have been opposed to getting financially involved because they just approved the Bojangles renovation not too long ago. I personally think that was the wrong move to even do anything with Bojangles as it is pretty far from uptown and no really connectivity to the center city. Thoughts?

Yea very true, just interesting Charlotte didn't try to make a bid on this... maybe it's because it's too far east coast, they wanted probably something more central which makes sense

This is the first new route addition in a while it seems like... even if it is only a few flights during the summer, hopefully it can eventually grow to daily
