  1. Now if only we can get a flight to Vancouver (side note: I LOVE Vancouver... anyone who hasn’t visited I HIGHLY recommend it)
  2. I came to Charlotte for the week... three weeks in advance for me looking to buy a ticket the price was over $700... I ended up driving from Miami, it’s out of control from South Florida to Charlotte (I’m not flying Allegiant)
  3. Thanks for the insight! So what could you even build on that site, office? A hotel wouldn’t even work probably... I guess the only way residential or hotel could maybe work is if you build a few story garage below the residential units
  4. Wait can you elaborate on the contamination on the site?? I didn’t know there was such an issue
  5. We would need one of those skinny tall towers that keep sprouting up all over New York

    Ballantyne

Exactly why the light rail needs to be extended to Ballantyne... anybody familiar with the DC area can see what a difference the Silver Line has made for the Tyson’s Corner area... Light rail can improve development in Ballantyne and South Park area for that matter
  7. Yea that is definitely either Vegas or Phoenix cause of the Southwest plane too... Southwest wasn’t in Charlotte back then when they had that livery and I don’t think America West ever flew here did they? I’ve always wondered this... why did so many airports have the same airport control tower? Charlotte, Phoenix, Las Vegas, I think Orlando and San Diego has/had it too... I’m sure there are a few more airports as well.
  8. So I guess the assumption is the new tower will most likely combine the people from 401 S College, DEC, and Raleigh... which makes sense for Duke to do. How many people from Duke work in DEC currently? And again I am really curious then what will happen to DEC in terms of who will pick up the empty office space in that excellent building (how many square feet does Duke lease from Wells?).
  9. I guess I’m sold on it from a visible standpoint and from a point that it’s time for a new tallest... but I just don’t see it in terms of timing unless they’re moving people from Raleigh (is there an amount of time that they guaranteed to keep a certain number of jobs there after their merger? And if so does that timing coincide with the potential completion of this tower?). And what’s gonna happen to the current DEC? Somebody posted somewhere I think that Wells is moving people to the suburbs... DEC is gonna be empty with all of these new towers unless if a new company happens to do a major relocation and are sold on anchoring the building. (I’m not trying to be negative at all, I’m excited if this building actually does happen but I’m just curious about the effects)
  10. I have been the thinking the same thing recently and noticing similar parallels in over speculation that fuels maybe premature projects. I would be personally thrilled if we get a 600 foot tower, I may be the only person on this thread who would be okay with BOFA CC retaining its status as Charlotte’s tallest. I know eventually it will lose that status but for the time being a 600 foot tower may nicely close out this construction cycle before the next construction boom. With that being said if Duke really has the stomach for a new tower of that size and is planning on moving people front Raleigh then by all means, go for it!
  11. Yessir! Brickell is a great spot as well, I have high aspirations that the Legacy site will one day resemble City Center!
  12. Another Charlotte ex-pat moving to Miami! Bienvenidos!
  13. Stonewall is a street where a street car should be considered to connect to Metroplitan... with Brooklyn Village eventually coming the entire area between metropolitan and uptown is being developed
  14. I am still patiently waiting for a CLT-FLL flight... The prices between Charlotte to South Florida are ridiculous
  15. Yea I think that same shot you’re referring to on my flight to Hong Kong last month... they show all these huge international cities and then like 2006ish Charlotte... I was thinking, “Really??” Lol
  16. Thanks for insight! This is making me want to consider changing my airline loyalty to Delta
  17. Do you know whether they have the USB outlets or Power outlets? that’s my biggest issue more than anything else... I knew about the IFE and I wouldn’t have a problem with it if not for the less movie options available for streaming on GoGo vs what’s available on IFE...
  18. The word “crappy” definitely works for the planes out of Charlotte... The legacy usairways planes that are mostly used out of Charlotte are so bad in comparison to the newer AA planes that are more utilized out of JFK, LAX, MIA, Chicago, DFW...
  19. Yea to my surprise I did the research, the other cities that I mentioned aren’t very close with their respective airline hub operations... London for instance has about 514 flights a day... Pleasantly surprised and impressed that Charlotte is in the top 3 it seems of airline hub operations by respective airline flight movements
  20. That’s how the costs stay down I guess ... I don’t get the comment that the world only has three megahubs... Dubai, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Istanbul, etc... those are not considered megahubs?? i know he used abnormal profitability as a qualifier but I’m sure those megahubs make just as much as ATL, DFW, and CLT (I know I’m just being picky) i am glad about the comment nonetheless :).... I really hope São Paulo comes back eventually, I live in Miami and I cringe every time I’m in MIA and I walk past a gate with GRU as the destination and think Charlotte doesn’t have that flight...
  21. So this topic is the only thing that I consider myself privy to insider knowledge and information and can actually contribute to, and I can tell you guys that you don't need to worry about this... This project is not happening any time soon...
  22. I love this project, great infill project in a pretty solid location IMO... The only thing I don't like about projects on Graham Street is that they always have the empty lot behind them close to the rail track and they don't develop that land into their property... I get nobody wants to live next to a railroad track but at least make that into some green space or something and don't just have it as empty pavement. That is my only criticism with this project.
  23. I am not an engineer or into construction so please take this question with a grain of salt but isn't 4 years a long time for an Environmental Impact Study?
  24. I really don’t think it’s a big deal, growing up in the LA area and now living in Miami, people don’t even think about not wearing proper attire for these sorts of places (my cousin just moved to Miami from Charlotte and I have this same discussion with him and he gets angry at me)... if you don’t like it don’t go, if you do, wear the right clothing, it’s nothing controversial in my opinion. A diverse uptown will have an option for everyone at any given mood they may be in when they want to go out, both casual and formal...
