You really should go down there and see it this is far from suburban, I have seen nothing this nice in a Memphis suburb. If you understand the context of that area of front street and beale most buildings are about 3 floors and warehouse or storefronts so a super tall building at this site would stand out more. it actually compliments the area well and knowing that a taller 22 floor hotel will go up behind it at the river lets me be ok with the height of this building lol.

As an architect I disagree both buildings have their unique architecture styles and can very well be rehabbed its all about people willing to invest money. If that giant sears crosstown building can be saved Im sure these two can. We need not tear down any large buildings. I guarantee once the lowes hotel gets built it will be more of an incentive to develop this building. We saved the pyramid, we saved crosstown, we can save 100 North main.

I think memphis doesnt have enough tall buildings to tear down our tallest building with no real development in site. The building can be repurposed, I say the city work with townhouse and we have 2 large new hotels by the convention center.

I think the openings of the garage bother me its like a large mass elevated over a missing base. I admit it looks better than i thought it would be for such as visible spot man....idk- 119 replies

Lets remember this is a microsoft paint rendering that is clearly put here to show an idea. I am totally sure the tower will look nothing like that, we all are. While I do think it is a little out of place now it could help spur redevelopment and not sit alone too long. Realistically I think this tower may be reduced to about 25 stories but either way as long as its over 20 floors I dont care lets get it started. Also Tom Intrator has plans for the land but with no financing in place he is not guaranteed anything. Its nice to see memphis finally stack a mixed use concept vs spreading it over 10 acres.

I think the the strength of the development team and outside investors will determine if this gets off the ground. personally memphis has such a low condo supply they will sale. I think this is the wrong location that would fit great at that one beale site or the clipper site. But a strong financial backing could get this off the ground quick.

Here are pictures from the Raleigh Town Center Development Library, probably the nicest in Memphis outside of the Central Library Overall photo of lake and police and traffic precinct Skatepark, this thing is always packed even at 3am.

I think it would be great to that area, Memphis needs walkable areas in more than just downtown. The colors look really nice i drove by yesterday and they were painting the strips on the stair tower -
Poplar Arts Lofts, nice to see the columns coming out the ground. Southland casino is also back under construction after a 2 month freeze, I see curtain glass going on the tower as well as vertical construction resuming on the tower.

I don't think so there will be a second one built behind the face of the building to the left. The prime location is the parking lot which I was standing in to take the picture. I think once the building is finished it will be beautiful. Just wait for the Loews hotel on North Main that will be your spectacular building. Bigger developments will come we just have to wait.
