  1. I Think this will happen because Fed Ex will need room to expand into the office and the 10 floor parking garage is definitely needed. I think this office building will actually happen. Developers are still waiting on large hotels since there are about 9hotels under construction currently downtown for about 1200 rooms. Just like in Nashville , I think developers want to see what happens after the convention center and its hotel is complete. Many thought Nashville would have too many rooms but obviously that was wrong.
  2. Madison Avenue Apartments are coming out the ground.
  3. One Beale is getting ready for ground breaking, they have closed the parking lot at the hotel location and removed the billboard. Also the offices have been vacated at the location of the apartments. Finally after 14 years lol.

  6. Glad to see this topic, lots of people do not realize how much is happening in Memphis right now. Our page really does no justice, some cities just don't have many posters.
  7. 100 North main has a New York Investor, its to be renovated and 2 more 30 story towers to be built surrounding it.
  8. They were referring to a corporate office more like Nashville. Amazon has already broken ground on a fulfillment center here.
  9. The new apartments at Madison and Mclean have started foundation work about 2 weeks ago pics will be coming soon. Also the 14 story Aloft hotel has started construction this project is actually one of the more interesting hotel renovations as it will add a rooftop pool and bar in a new building.
  10. I still feel people don't understand the amount of projects happening in Memphis, below are all the recently approved design review board projects. Yes the convention center renovation is attached, it currently being re bid in November. Building on Carolina next to Loflin Yards Museum Lofts next door to Civil Rights Museum Bakery Apartments Part of old Wonder bread Bakery Redevelopment in the Edge district. These are actually under construction now. The Memphis Cook Convention Center Renovation, as you all know our current convention center is clad in concrete and has a new addition. The goal is to remove the concrete add more meeting space and match the new and old buildings and modernize all interiors a better cost approach than building a new one. Plus the addition of the 26 story Loew's Hotel this should be the project to watch, construction should start in spring.
  11. They do plan to renovate the sterrick building, its just a much more costly and expensive renovation due to the age and short floor to floor height of only 8 feet. The legal issue disappears soon. But with the way things are going it will be the last large empty old building left. The city of Memphis truly would have filled them all up. Pyramid, crosstown, 100 north main, brewery, hickman building, chisca. All these monsters were empty 6 years ago. Once they old stuff is full we should have a few nice size buildings going up.

  14. I guess since the smaller 1 beale building break ground in November it will give me something to ease my mind while I wait for this. Should be at least Spring before this project breaks ground. with design, and code review etc.
  15. Not sure what beale street you were on. Beale street is the most visited street in the state over 5 million people. You have to come out at night to see that though. Plus uptown is empty because st jude owns almost 70 percent of the land. Main street is always full of people, so is south main, and now overton square and crosstown. Our downtown has many places for people and a much longer strip almost 2 miles from north main to south for people to spread out. Not no mention the riverfront is always full along with the harrahan bridge. We are doing just fine our downtown population alone is close to 30000 people.
  16. Actually I do they are in the new construction section. But I have some more recent ones to post. Two Nice midtown apartment complexes are coming out the ground, St jude is clearing ground for a pretty cool office building, Hilton downtown is almost complete and several other buildings near Madison are being renovated in hotel indigo etc. Also the wonderbread factory is almost demolished to make way for a large mixed use development at danny Thomas in the edge district.
  17. You can get really good pictures of the skyline from the new park in West Memphis Arkansas on the flood plain, I highly recommend people drive there and explore its a huge park.

  19. Honestly I have a friend working at the firm and they are being closed lipped about it. I think it is going to happen since land was purchased a few months ago to build the garage at front street vs under the building. Also the current owner of that building has emptied out the old mechanical equipment and has started some demolition. im sure since the garage has been repositioned to the east of the site there is some additional design work to be done. Im guessing if there is no news about 1 beale by december it wont happen but im really waiting on that one. Also two large convention hotels are being proposed so those should be decent sized buildings.

Havent posted in a second but several projects are moving along Sears (Crosstown Concourse Building Opening) Hilton Hotel across from autozone park, Artspace Lofts near south Main, Patterson place on GE Patterson, Tennessee Brewery new tower, front street apartments phase I (MEM), and Methodist Hospital Expansion
  21. Here is the site work for the Hilton garden inn they are really moving along. Also I have shots of Service Master Headquarter in old Peaybody mall, Laquinta inn, Tennessee brewery apartments, and the Methodist Hospital Tower.
