  1. i sent the 'contact us' email address asking a while ago about moderating or any job openings, and they said they were fine for the time being - that being said - Id encourage you to ask about it if they felt the need to have it happening.
  2. Wrld would be a good suggestion. He seems the most plugged in of us all, with the most available time to post... but that is his decision, and UP's as well.
  3. Theyy were saying a barge from Norfolk to the Richmond terminal would take 36 hours. We can assume that a pleasure craft is about twice as fast as a barge. The trip from Williamsburg (Kingsmill to be exact) would be about 60 or so miles. (On a jet ski this would take about two hours - if you had that much gas that is!!!) I am going to with 6-8 hours to be safe.
  4. amazing how one's work ends up on the web.
  5. Well it would start by making a sweet MODEL to match up with it...
  6. Just think how much safer we would all be if we were all driving around in rubbermaid trashcans!
  7. Henry... time frame for that to happen?
  8. A new place by the name of Tony's is opening up in the old 4th St Diner location - according to a menu posted in the newly renovated interior a variety of sandwiches and lunch-style items will be sold. Average price -7 bucks for a sandwich. Interior looks nice. Hours are not 24 like the old diner, but it does add back in one more bit of selection into that area of the city.
  9. Perhaps where they could still have river access? So they could barge their exports out???
  10. Thanks for that Cam and Burt. Ill check it out. I am buying a house up on the Hill as we speak... so I will become a strong advocate for that area.
  11. by neighborhood i hope you mean 'building'
  12. Ill take a walk by this weekend and see what has become of it. The Robinson unfortunately is too far off the Broad corridor at the moment to be saved. I feel the East End though would be a boon in that location. Burt you might have just caused me to form a non-profit to save it!
  13. i would have to think he will be offered a position high enough for him to consider resigning immediately. He didn't play as major of a role as he did not to get something cabinet level or higher - of course if Obama loses this means nothing.
  14. In talking with several Real Estate agents the past few weeks I am hearing that the downtown and immediate areas of downtown (Fan, Churchill, somewhat Manchester) single family housing market is booming. Trust me, it was next to impossible to get a home inspection as they were all busy. I think the Richmond economy is fine and turning a corner as people move back into the confines of the City Limits.
  15. Burt, you are correct there, people bought those properties assuming they would get a good return on their investment and now they have been caught with their pants down when parents of students don't want to buy places for their kids right now...
  16. You would be correct, but dont forget the Southern States site and the area noth of Manchester as you reach the 14th St Bridge, which has a spectacular view of the Richmond Skyline...
  17. This must also be apart of the Medical Schools realignment of several other departments... the New School of Public Health will be housed in the same building... interesting combination of neighbors...
  18. She also probably watches law and order which distorts the time frame of true criminal work exponentially. I have caught a few shows myself and I would say it portrays the city in a favorable light and also shows that the system is working (look at the four-fold increase in arrest to murders committed ratio this past year as opposed to say 2000's).
  19. Great oppurtunity for either VCU to expand with another large mixed-use building, or for someone else to come along and tear up the building and surface parking and do IN-FILL!! Totally convenient location to both students and the fan - won't be empty long I can guarantee that.
  20. There is a stream there, its about 10-15' wide in most places...
  21. Not shocking at all, I think we can all agree that Wilder is a few bagels short of a dozen upstairs... That being said - I haven't seen anyone else worthy of electing for the Mayor's position, has anyone else seen the same thing?
  22. The master plan for the Bass Pro Shop site calls for two large office buildings and several more strip centers and free-standing restuarants. I also believe a hotel pad site or two was part of the concept. I haven't seen one in a while, so I can't be certain.
  23. That also depends on the point at which you measure the ground... from the existing adjacent buildings along Main St, or at the 2 or 3 story lower caddy corner of the lot along 6th. Some developers will say 30 stories, but that is from the base of the underground parking all the way to the top of the building spire. Now we wont know how they measured this project for quite a while... although TB and/or Eyes might find out sooner. My gut is they are measuring the parking, but where they set that bottom floor remains to be seen.
  24. Would this be the roundtable... per the Richmond Times Dispatch???
