  1. Any intel on OMB in Cornelius? My field personnel tell me that Edge City is getting close.....but that sounds like something I don't want to google at work. Oh and after reading your Devil's Logic review Sat morning, I decided we should check it out that day. Loved it. The beer was good (Pale above average, West Coast average, Hazy really good, Stout a little watery and shallow, small batch Smoked Stout was really good, oh and I'm not a sour expert but the berry gose was drinkable (to me) so it must be okay). Place was great for the odd footprint. Love the outdoor space. Love the murals out back (we parked back there since we were super early). Bardude said they're working on murals inside. And any place that has Sequence board game on hand gets my vote immediately. Didn't try the food. Also had to visit our old friends at Birdsong for a 4-pack of the Pterodactyl and a pint of Jalapeno straight from the source. Man, having Pterodactyl and Hop Cakes in the house at the same time makes for some groggy mornings.
  2. Local beer at Speed Street? https://www.charlotteobserver.com/charlottefive/c5-things-to-do/article240520186.html " (4) IT’S ALL ABOUT LOCAL In Charlotte, we love our local beer and food. In response, the organizers have added beer gardens from local breweries and local food trucks. "
  3. Funny. I saw a Bud Heavy commercial last weekend and thought it looked delicious. So I bought some Captain Jack, and I'm quite enjoying it!
  4. Could this be the nuance of "mechanical" and "peak"? Let's see........ On the twits, where I'm just guessing not all delays are announced: Wed 1/2 11:06 no reason given Wed 1/8 10:55 no reason given Fri 1/10 16:39 no reason given Sat 1/11 06:51 no reason given Sat 1/11 16:18 no reason given Sun 1/12 14:21 no reason given Sun 1/12 14:57 no reason given Mon 1/13 07:24 train removed from service Tue 1/14 06:49 mechanical Fri 1/17 08:21 mechanical Thu 1/23 16:41 mechanical Thu 1/30 08:30 mechanical
  5. Yes, and when I sampled times in Apr/May last year, in just the south half of the blue line, the train lost time to the schedule in 100% of trips......probably losing a bit of time all along the way. The sample size, of course, is admittedly small.
  6. Last night I had a Captain Jack, a Citraquench'l, and a Hop Drop.....and I just wanted to say how good life is. Sorry to make you click in for a nothing post. I hope you all have a wonderful v-day and a great weekend. (I'm brewing a Citraquench'l clone this weekend. Couldn't find a recipe online, so I threw one together based on a couple other hazy ones I found. I know it won't be close, but it'll be fun trying.)
  7. The original taproom isn't open? Do they still have the extended eating/drinking space that they added? I haven't been there in so long, I have no idea what the setup is.
  8. I mean, this is off-topic, but WOW.....2005?!?!
  9. Wrapido in Latta Arcade is gone......I haven't been over there lately, so this could be really old news. Their spot is vacant.
  10. Answered my own question. Yep. 4:52 in this (although the video of the on-ramp at Johnston doesn't look like the PDF map, but whatever):
  11. This is 485 at Johnston for the express lane project. Am I reading this correctly that the flyover to westbound 485 will branch off to the left, go over the regular lanes, and join up to the express lane? And also, on eastbound 485, the express lane will have a dedicated exit that goes over the normal lanes and has it's own little ramp to Johnston Rd southbound (bypassing the stoplight at the end of the normal ramp)?
  12. This just in from our sister thread Drinking Beer in Matthews: Carolina Beer Temple is closing for good next weekend. They are "merging" with Temple Mojo. Both are already owned by the same guy/people, so the "merge" is just moving retail coolers and shelves into Mojo and closing the original space. The move into Mojo should happen the first week in March.
  13. Or 36 and rain like Friday. I would downvote myself if I could.
  14. Wow, massively scaled-back operation at the uptown JJ's Red Hots. Only 5 dogs available (so no dog of the week at this location) plus build-your-own with the ingredients on hand. Two sausages on the menu. Sides are limited to fries and tots. No beer and no kombucha. Obviously fewer staff on hand. Still $2 dogs on Tuesdays, so get 'em while you can. I hope they can make it work, but this doesn't look good.
  15. Haha, I didn't go when it opened and had completely forgotten it, until someone mentioned it in mid-December. We went then......don't know if that's "recently". Anyway, it was great. The place had a vibe similar to the original Birdsong location. I think I had 4 half-pours and they were all good.
  16. Went to Sunstead on Saturday. Love the place. Really nice. Great art. Love the brewhouse setup. Good view of uptown. Friendly people. Menu looked good but we didn't eat. I had 4 of the beers in a flight, plus tasted my wife's. I'm trying to think of a way to spin this more positive, but the Imperial Stout was approaching average, and the others were below. I look forward to going back, as maybe I was having a bad day. In other news, teh agenda is saying Fonta Flora should be open within a week or so.
  17. Jayvee probably has ninja insider info, so Rock Bottom seems likely. But yeah on Ballantyne. I begged for the space at Blakeney next to the fountains....that didn't happen. Then I begged for the space at Blakeney where Burton's ended up.....that didn't happen. The old Dean & Deluca at Stonecrest is still unoccupied......but if Stonecrest raised leases so much that they drove everybody out, then probably no local brewery can afford that. I just fall back on....if it were economically feasible to be anywhere near Ballantyne, some local brewery would have already done it.
  18. I've had a few cans and loved it as much as ever. It's one of my top 5 beers in town, and I didn't notice any difference this year. However, with almost a year between tastings, I'm probably not the most discerning taster ever. Now if you changed my Mountain Dew or my HopDrop, I'd know right away!
  19. Sorry if I missed this, but why all the signs at every exit on 485 (from at least South Blvd to Monroe Rd) that have a 485 Shield with "ALT" above it and "DETOUR" below it? I mean, I know the toll lane construction is going on. But what is meant by ALT 485 DETOUR? There aren't going to be closings, are there? And either way, where exactly are the detouring 485 traffic?
  20. Not at all. Their tweet to me a week ago said "Our uptown location isn't far away though!". I don't know if they were talking time or distance, but either way, definitely not dead.
  21. Yep, that's the address that had been announced.
  22. Spotted above the TVM today. At first I thought it said "Conversion Center".....and I thought that was a rather troubling development!!
  23. Glad I missed that mess yesterday. I rode the northbound from 3rd to Parkwood to walk to Birdsong at get some Honey Pie right at 3pm. I was back on the southbound at 3:10 and was LITERALLY the only person in my car until we got into uptown. The rest of the trip was thankfully uneventful. There are generally announcements on the station loudspeakers when something is broken, although they can be hard to hear. I agree that quick engagement on twitter (or something, anything) would at least leave customers a bit less disgruntled. It seems simple, but I guess who's going to do it? You're not going to pay somebody to sit there on twitter. And anybody else is probably busy helping solve the problem. I hope.
  24. I got word from D9 via the twitter machine that they had to cancel the Fermenteria (near McGill Rose Garden on N Davidson) "due to complications with the railroad". So it has been removed from my map: https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=zvfji2eVQoVE.kz5BFo-0quQ8
