Found these renderings on the KJH Architecture website:
  9. From everything I've read, there won't be a brewhouse at Wooden Robot's 36th St location. They will have 4 big foeders and a bunch of barrels. Does anybody know how they and Legion transport beer into those foeders? Various articles give the size of these as 40 bbl each.....that's 1260 gallons, which is a lot of goddam beer to be transporting.
  10. Wooden Robot at 36th St.....soft open early next week, with Grand Opening Sat Jun 29: https://www.charlottefive.com/wooden-robot-noda-2019/
  11. Nice! So that's just 13 more breweries to open in CharMeck in 2019, hahahahaha. Updated map: https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=zvfji2eVQoVE.kz5BFo-0quQ8
  12. We might have a high in the 60s today. In the last 20 years, I only have record of 2 days in June with a high in the 60s......so this will be quite rare if we do stay under 70.

Not just roads, but also schools. I wonder if any approval for residential would be contingent on building school(s) on the property. AK High and Comm House Middle and Elon Park Elem are already at/over 150% population they were built for.
  14. My cousin (F45) and her 2 sons (middle school ish) have an overnight layover tomorrow (Wed).....so we're looking for family-friendly casual dinner/drink. She has an interest in local beer. If there were a Brixx or TRUE Pizza nearer the airport, that would be perfect. She's going to Uber wherever, but I feel like I shouldn't subject them to a long drive. Am I making this too hard? Is OMB the obvious choice? If the weather were nice, this is a no-brainer, but 68 and storms in June? Crap. My only hesitation is indoor acoustics were terrible last I was there. Any other good options? Uptown Brixx? Piedmont Social at Ayersley?
  15. Oh wow, but this is much more.....this is hugely increasing their production capacity. Thanks for the link! Every new project in that direction is another step closer to Blue Blaze surviving, hahaha. But I really wish the trolley and Savona Mill would become a reality. 16. I like this. The only slight stretch (though not impossible) is an 8-8 (or worse) wildcard team. Other than that, it's perfectly do-able.
  17. For you uptown workers who haven't heard yet, and that's probably impossible, the Ritual app is running an Uptown Food Fest through this week, where a ton of restaurants have a $1 menu item. For Mellow Mushroom it's a small pizza (which I had Thu), Phil's Deli it's a steak philly (which I had Fri), and American Burger Co it's a burger (which I'm having now). And if you sign up with a code, like 400STRYON, you get a $10 credit. So you're paying nothing for your $1 lunch items. Beware, though, it's a "social" app where you join a "team" and the app automatically notifies everybody on your team that you're going to get lunch and you can pick up for anybody else who is ordering their own. Of course you can disable all that, which you should.

    Spotted on The FaceBook:
  19. My family would definitely use the train more if the headways weren't so big. Brewery trips, baseball games, shows at Blumenthal, mint museum, festivals, etc. I ride to work every day, but we drive to all of those, because no way do we want to miss a 20-minute train by 1 minute......we could almost be home by the time the next train comes. I wonder if the majority of weekend casual users know what they're getting themselves into....at least the first time.
  20. As I'm sure you might guess, teh Agenda is the ultimate source of info on this: What it’s like to raise 5 backyard chickens in Plaza Midwood: https://www.charlotteagenda.com/67485/what-its-like-to-raise-backyard-chickens-in-charlotte/ Want to raise livestock in your backyard? 21. On My 13 they tweetered: " WE WANT YOUR THOUGHTS! Tell us what content you want to see! Drop a comment on this thread and let us know! #feedback #publictransit #CATSconnectsYou " They got some replies.....some about content for their twitter feed, and some about general improvements.
  22. Well, I keep forgetting to check the time at the end of my train trip, because I just don't care enough. So I'll just post my stats and give up. Notes: - *ALL* of my 23 trips lost time to the schedule. That means: During the trip, they were farther behind schedule at the end of my trip than at the start of my trip. This is on the original blue line, not the extension. - Northbound from 485 (end-of-the-line), 8 of 13 trips started on time (or early). This despite the incoming train being 3-8 minutes late (average 5.5) arriving on its southbound trip. Luckily they have a 9 minute turnaround window. Arriving stats not shown on chart. - Southbound from 3rd Street was on time 2 out of 10 trips, with 6 out of 10 being 3 or more minutes late.
  23. We've hit 94+ for the last 4 days in a row, with a good chance of 3 more.....for a total of 7 days of 94+ in May. In the last 18 years, we've hit 94+ in May only 1(!) time.....05/31/2011.
  24. From my last week or two: An adolescent hawk on the swingset next door. He/she swooped in and grabbed a finch and took it back to the swingset and plucked/destroyed/ate it. A black snake at Elon frisbee golf course. He/she was about a 5-footer and was not interested in frisbees. The gator that lives at a tiny pond by the clubhouse at Caswell Dunes on Oak Island. A departed spider crab on the beach at Oak Island. We see tons of crabs, but I'd never seen a spider crab before. A rabbit that lives under our deck. I think this was a mama/papa, not the baby, but without scale I can't remember. Haven't seen the baby for a couple weeks......see above re: hawk.
  25. Armored Cow opens (in University) opens tomorrow. Also tomorrow, NoDa Brewing is re-opening their original location, and re-naming it "The OG: A NoDa Brewing Joint". They will have regular hours Fri, Sat, Sun henceforth. Map: https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=zvfji2eVQoVE.kz5BFo-0quQ8
