  1. THREE 4-packs at $18 to meet the $50 minimum for delivery, hahaha! Plus driver tip. But man, I've spent so little money since Mar 13.....hundreds just in Great Clips* and gas to the train haha.....and the breweries need my help. At least that's how I'm justifying it. *yes, I'm essentially bald, but I was still doing the Great Clips 000 Guard every 10ish days.....until the covid forced me into self clippering. silver lining and all that.
  2. Okay, so with no replies and/or recommendations on Traust.....of course I ordered some, hahahaha. Will report back here. In other news, did you see NoDa's calendar for next year? Imperial Hop Drop. Double Radio Haze. Drop Dead Gordgeous. Monstro. All in cans!!!! (And on tap.) Also, OG Kolsch and Haze So-Low are both year-round now, which is nice.
  3. Traust wants a $50 minimum order for delivery, at $18/4-pack. Anybody had their stuff? $4.5 a beer is cheaper than a taproom, but hurts in cans......especially if it's not good. https://shop.traustbrewing.com/
  4. I think the Mexicali is better than the Hot Pistol this year. I know, different beers, but they're in the same family. And y'all know I'm the biggest NoDa fanboi ever, but the Hoppy Holidays is a bit of a letdown this year. Doesn't seem nearly as spruce-y (nor hoppy) as years past. On the other hand, I LOVED Gordgeous this year.....seemed better than last year, which I liked just fine. Hoping I can stumble onto some remaining stock somewhere.
  5. NoDa has their OG Kolsch. It's very good. Available in cans at the brewery, and I saw it at HT on Friday.
  6. You know when you're driving down the road....maybe to the beach....maybe from the beach.....and you see a license plate? And you think......I wonder if there are any words that have those 3 letters in order? Not necessarily all consecutive.....but just in that order? You don't think that? Oh, I do. All the time. Well, I got tired of wondering, so I made an app that is kind-of like a game. I've never made an app before, but it was fun. You can play it solo......or pass around the device and play with other people. It's in the Android store, if you're so inclined. I've had it there since December, and it has 7 downloads......so I guess it's pretty big. It's called Platewords.
  7. Buchy was a "longtime homebrewer".....not that it changes your point. I'm a longtime homebrewer, but that doesn't mean I'd be any more successful at opening a brewery than someone who isn't. https://plazamidwood.com/legion-brewing-and-other-fermenting-rumors/
  8. Only the NoDa one, which is a Dark Pilsner. It's good, as you would expect from them.
  9. I love it! Love your beach setup, too. I'll have to show my wife and daughters since they do the decorating.....all I do is fish.....I hit 500 fish Jul 23 and just passed 2000 last night, hahahaha. 10. My standard Dad Attire is cargo shorts and a Charlotte Beer t-shirt. As such, my daughter took some of my wardrobe shirts and made them in Animal Crossing so I look more realistic. If you want to download any of them, her Creator ID is MA-0926-2419-7740 .
  11. I haven't updated my brewery list in a while. Who has updates for me? Any of these open yet? Cancelled? Other? And is Fonta Flora still kicking at the food hall thingy? Cavendish Social House D9 Uptown Pavilion Edge City Traust Brewing Company Legion at Trolley Barn Fermentory Suffolk Punch - Noble Smoke Protagonist Brewing OMB - 2nd Location Petty Thieves Brewing Lost Worlds Brewing Free Range - Camp North End Legion at Salt + Vinegar Legion at Legacy Union
  12. How big is that space on Louise? Original plans called for "The Embassy" as their first brewing location, followed by the massive boy. " Gilde’s first brick-and-mortar location will come soon after the initial introduction to Charlotte. By the end of [2019], Gilde will open a microbrewery called “the Embassy.” It will be around 5,000 square feet, the size of many of Charlotte’s established craft breweries, and will have the capacity to brew a few thousand barrels of beer annually. Uhlmann has the location for the Embassy narrowed down to about five sites, although he declined to say where they are. The microbrewery will employ up to 30 people, Uhlmann said, and will not do any bottling onsite. The brewing done onsite will be in small batches, he added. Two to three years down the line is when Gilde plans to open its massive flagship brewery in Charlotte, Uhlmann said, although he declined to say which locations Gilde is eying for that facility. It will employ up to 100 people and will have a spacious taproom, beer garden and full kitchen, Uhlmann said. "
  13. Homeland. Just finished Season 2. I was always peripherally aware it was filmed in Charlotte, but I had no idea it was Claire Danes! I still have a crush on her from the MSCL days.
  14. Kermit you're in a time warp.....Three Spirits closed in April *2019*! https://www.charlottemagazine.com/three-spirits-brewery-closing-this-weekend/
  15. I bought Hop Drop at Winestore (Blakeney) yesterday and was reminded that their everyday price is 10.99. Amazing.
  16. Definitely need to look into this Tiger King based on the posts above. We're watching Top Chef season 1. I also started The L Word a few months ago....now on the final season and still sneaking episodes when the wife and daughters aren't around, which is......never, hahahaha.
  17. Silver Lining having breweries and wine stores deemed essential. Warms my cockles.
  18. When I saw the news of the increase to 9 minutes a few weeks ago, it didn't even occur to me how that would make the rush-hour crowding even worse. Ugh. So glad I beat the rush both ways.
  19. I only buy about 1 six-pack of OMB a year, but I'll definitely be adding some OMB to my beach rotation now that it's in cans!
  20. Sorry, they only had Fruh in bottles and I didn't check the price.
  21. OMB now in cans. 4-packs of 16oz. $12 at Rhino.
  22. Lived in Nebraska and Iowa until we got tired of cold and snow in 2001. The choice was between Phoenix, Austin, and Charlotte. Didn't know anybody in Phoenix or Austin. My wife's brother had recently moved to Charlotte and her parents had recently moved to Wilmington, so here we are.
  23. This angle isn't perfect, but yeah I think it's pretty clear there will be more overlap of the Duke buildings.
