Noticed today that The Eastern signage is finally up. That is a gorgeous tower.
-
Very exciting stuff. Smoky Hollow was originally planned as a 40 story tower. Interested to see what the final floor count will be.

With Ineos US HQ and possible manufacturing down the line, as well as VinFast's huge manufacturing operations planned for Chatham County, Raleigh may become an electric vehicle automotive hub in the near future. Since Advance Auto Parts is headquartered here, i'm wondering if they envision any opportunities with these new developments? If not, they should be seeking to get some of the action.

Triangle Innovation Point Megasite Chatham County

That doesn't change the fact that this "Carolina Core" concept is bogus and intended to be deceptive at it's core. -

This whole Carolina Core concept is a bunch of crock! Just a marketing gimmick invented by people in the Triad so that region looks more successful than it really is. Furthermore I do not believe that the state of NC is pushing this "Carolina Core" concept. The state is pushing the individual megasites, not some madeup pie in the sky concept. If you notice that map, neither Raleigh nor Durham are directly included in the zone...only Greensboro and WS. What a bunch of BS! -

Wilmington used to be a big player in TV and film. Not sure how much these days. -
Correction. It has been reported that Highwoods will move their HQ to the Wells Fargo tower downtown.
-
Highwoods must be apparently moving to a new highrise they will build in the Warehouse district. They recently purchased the parcel across from the Dillon and have had it rezoned to 40 stories.
-
This block is across the street from my condo so I'm all for it being fully re-developed. Do you work for the city or for the developer? You seem to have all of the details that others don't. LOL
-
Is this the site across from Nash Sq where the old police HQ used to be?

Could Pinnacle be considering a downtown tower? This article seems to hint at it. https://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/news/2022/03/21/pinnacle-ceo-talks-raleigh-talent-war.html

Hilton Garden Inn/Homewood Suites, 13 stories 259 rooms

At this point i've noted a total of 10 cranes erected around Raleigh currently. -
Nice photos. Keep up the good work. FYI, i've counted a total of 8 large cranes across the city. There may even be more.
-
First floor is being poured. Things will go very fast at this point.

Now this is getting interesting. It is reported that the main tenant of at least one of the towers will be Dogwood State Bank, a small local bank from Morehead city that only recently relocated from Morehead City. Their logo will be very visible in the Raleigh skyline, especially from South Saunders. It will inevitably prompt other banks to want to do similar things. This move to a tower downtown could be the catalyst needed for some other local banks to build a HQ tower downtown (are you listening First Citizens and North State Bank?).
-
According to the TBJ, these towers will be the HQ for a local bank. Why build two 20 story towers instead of building a single 30-40 story tower? Poor use of land in my opinion. https://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/news/2022/03/14/salisbury-square-dogwood-state-bank.html?cx_testId=40&cx_testVariant=cx_45&cx_artPos=1#cxrecs_s

I did not count the ones around Wade Ave. So that would make the count 8+ cranes currently erected in the city.
-
Last week I counted a total of 6 cranes across Raleigh. I'm not sure but there may be others elsewhere that I haven't seen.
-
I drove by the site today and it looks like utility work for the site has started. The project has a 2022 projected start, so hopefully we will see demolish work started soon.
-
More lackluster designs,...but i'll take it. It will add good density to a burgeoning area.

If that original stadium that was proposed would have been built, the Archdale building would be gone by now. Anyway, I believe that it will be demolished soon enough. There seems to be a giant bullseye on every fugly building in DTR. Also, i've heard many in favor, and many against the Holiday Inn being torn down. It's about 50/50. I'm mainly of the belief that we should find a way to preserve it, but my biggest concern is that the building does not maximize the use of the very valuable land that it sits on. Hopefully the developer will build something that will impress us, but i'll hold my enthusiasm until I see final renderings.
