I'd really like to see this DSED grow with substantial towers. Being so close to the interstate, this will make Raleigh's skylike look more dramatic and impressive with the main skyline being in the background. -

Steady progress. Somewhere around 2/3 tall at this point.

It will be the tallest residential building south of New York City and called the Waldorf Astoria Residences Miami.

I'm hoping that they build one of those skinny towers that have gone up in NYC recently. With les than one acre they have to go up and be creative. I'm also hearing that there are plans to build a 100 story tower in Miami. Most likely the tallest in the entire South.

From the article: "Alchemy Properties South is the residential development arm covering the Southeast for Alchemy Properties and was founded in 2020. Its goal is to bring its “trademark sophisticated, urban chic sensibility to fast growing Southeast markets.” Let's hope this development brings a much needed well designed tower to downtown.

Now we just need an airport designed to accommodate expanded international travel, as well as road warriors like myself (more onsite parking, more gates, better food options, etc.).

We need more and more of these urban infill projects being developed for life sciences and tech companies.

If I recall correctly, the city imposed the affordable housing mandate on his 40 story tower in Smoky Hollow, which may be slowing that development down.

Kane is quite the visionary, and Raleigh is the benefactor. I just wish the expansion included taller, sleeker towers. That would help balance out the things with the east side.

I read in the TBJ today that an estimated 45,000 more apartments are needed in Raleigh. No sure if that is across the metro or just in the city limits. In any event that's a lot of demand. That most certainly will drive more high rise residential development, which could explain the push for re-zonings in areas like the Warehouse District and Glenwood South.

I suspect that this is only the beginning. typically with rapidly growing cities, taller and more impressive developments follow the first big wave of developments in the 20-30 story range. Those developments drive up the surrounding price of land as well as availability, which in turn forces developers to look at going higher for subsequent developments.

My understanding from talking to others in the local commercial real estate and development arena, Kane can get whatever financing that he wants at this point from major financiers in the US and Europe and beyond. This is why he has so many projects currently in the pipeline. If he wants to go big at Crabtree, i'm sure that he can make it happen and it will be impressive.
