  4. Mebane’s chances of getting a Tractor Supply increased Monday night when the city council approved a rezoning request to permit the farm and garden supply store at a location off Mebane Oaks Road near I-85/40. The council’s approval, however, was contingent on the developer succeeding at getting additional land in order to extend Wilson Road behind Chick-fil-A to connect to a stub-out road being built by DOT at the intersection with the entrance to Walmart. https://alamancenews.com/rezoning-for-tractor-supply-okd-by-mebane-city-council/

  6. The brisk pace of warehouse building projects in and around Graham appears to be continuing into 2023, as construction of one spec warehouse is underway, while another proposed warehouse of up to 788,550-square feet is also being marketed as a build-to-suit property for a warehouse/logistics company or tenant. The larger of the two latest projects, for the proposed warehouse that could span up to 788,550 square feet, is currently being marketed through the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC), which works with the governor’s office and N.C. Department of Commerce to lure new companies to set up operations in the state. https://alamancenews.com/latest-warehouse-project-is-across-kimrey-road-from-industrial-park/
  7. Phoenix heat is other worldly, not only in intensity but calendar duration. 115 degrees of dry heat is still a hellscape
  8. Haw River’s town council has approved annexation and rezoning for a nearly 200-acre residential development that Haw River officials say could be one of the largest residential projects in the town’s history. Plans described to the town council indicate plans for 34 single-family homes, 136 townhouses, and 360 apartments, for total of 530 single-family and multifamily units. https://alamancenews.com/haw-river-oks-annexation-for-large-residential-project/
  9. Hopefully the black migration to North Carolina will finally tip the political scales of state politics in the upcoming decade
  10. The Carolina Mudcats are considering leaving Zebulon for Wilson. At a city council meeting Thursday night, the City of Wilson voted to enter into a memorandum of understanding with the minor-league baseball team. The council is looking to build a multi-purpose stadium without using taxpayer money by using private sector funding and other sources. The location for a ballpark has not been determined, but several sites are being considered, including some in downtown. https://abc11.com/amp/carolina-mudcats-move-to-wilson-city-of-zebulon/12832696/
  11. West Wilson remains hot. Two large housing development projects are in the works in the area, with 1158 Place beside Heritage Corner and another 300-unit complex on the other side of Airport Boulevard receiving Wilson City Council approval on a rezoning request to change the area to residential mixed use in October.
  12. A new shopping area that would include Academy Sports, Home Goods, Burlington, Michaels and Petco is in the development process, according to documents approved by the city of Wilson’s Technical Review Committee. The TRC approved elevation plans for a standalone Academy Sports + Outdoors and a block that would contain Home Goods, Burlington, Michaels and Petco at Heritage Corner — the development behind Culver’s at the corner of Airport Boulevard and Raleigh Road Parkway. https://restorationnewsmedia.com/articles/wilsontimes/new-stores-in-development-stage-for-heritage-center/?newsletter=1

  15. They still have places with “Plantation” in the name? Johnston County. SMH
  16. New year, same @Canes. A five-game Sunday saw Carolina extend its franchise-record win and point streaks to 11 and 17 games, respectively.
  17. The political backlash to recent events in Portland and Oregon has been so great the state almost elected a very conservative to governor.
  18. I don’t know if it’s had any impact on population, but the continuous unrest in Portland has definitely made some view the city as less desirable.
  19. Great. Governor Hogan was a jerk for canceling this while simultaneously allowing the Purple Line in PG and Montgomery Counties to proceed. Next, I would like to see the DC and Baltimore metros connected via BWI.
  20. Of course, the accuracy and longterm value of the 2021 estimates is hotly debated because of the impact of the pandemic on migration patterns.
  21. I think Hushpuppy was referring to the 2021 US Census Bureau estimates, which estimated Mecklenburg County grew a modest .6% from 2020 to 2021, significantly below the state growth rate of 1%. Durham County’s once redhot growth declined during the period, if the estimates are accurate. https://amp.charlotteobserver.com/news/business/development/article259721140.html
