  1. Wow. Impressive. Tell me this. What is making downtown Winston's residential push so successful? Is it marketing? The young, artsy population that was untapped there? The appealing downtown that already exists?
  2. Well, actually if the porn store had really great movies, it would be rather convenient.
  3. DM, Gallery Place is not really an indoor mall in the usual sense, although some of the stores can be accessed from the interior of the mixed use development. There is a huge movie theater inside Gallery Place on the third floor of the complex. The view from the Verizon Center side.
  4. How about a DC Gallery Place/Verizon-style development in Raleigh, which is essentially a mini-Times Square? The new Gallery Place combines business, shopping, dining, entertainment and condominiums all under one roof within walking distance to many of Washington, DC
  5. True, Suburban. A downtown club district would really ignite a spark.
  6. I don't get why the Monroe Bypass just doesn't become the Monroe-Wadesboro bypass, thus bypassing congestion on Highway 74 through both Union and Anson counties and linking with the new interstate in Rockingham.
  7. I can't believe Charlotte's Metroline doesn't go out to Concord Mills, the state's largest tourist attraction.
  8. Great pics. I am down in Winston today before heading home to DC. I am impressed with the progress being made on West End Village. I am awaiting to see more progress on the Goler Heights project though. And that new mixed use project between Old Salem and the NC School of the Arts in the traffic circle seems to be coming along very slowly.
  9. Oh heck, why not just extend the Silver Line all the way to Leesburg for good measure?
  10. I'm sorry, but the notion of building a professional sports arena or stadium outside of downtown is insane. It is not 1985 anymore.
  11. Those figures for Chapel Hill are way too robust. Chapel Hill is pretty anti-growth and housing is scarce and overpriced. 65,000 is more realistic.
  12. Situated midway between DC and Richmond, Fredericksburg is on the threshold of major group, commercial and residential. It's placement on I-95 is ideal, and the extension of DC Metro's HOV Lanes to Fredericksburg will spark even greater growth.
