  1. Whether it's 7.5% or 5.7%, that's not a lot of vacancy for expansion/relocations. Certainly justifies the need for some more spec office tower construction considering everything keeps filling up as it's built.
  2. ^I hope they aren't going Wicked Weed on us or merging with anyone else. Optimistic it's a new local venue or venture, though they have two with the OG. EDIT: Someone posted on the twitter that they hop NoDa is announcing an uptown location and NoDa "liked" the comment. Hmmmmm...
  3. I actually liked last year's batch quite a bit. This year seemed more of what you described from last year. I've only had it in cans so interested to see if there is any difference on tap.
  4. Has anyone had Birdsong Honey Pie this year? Do you feel it's not as good as in year's past? Trying to figure out if that's the case or just that my palate has changed over the last year. It is always my favorite seasonal from Birdsong and liked it much better than Hopslam.
  5. Yea, I've had the same experience in FL as a whole too. Maybe it's just a southeast thing. I've spent a lot of time out west and up north over the last year and it doesn't seem nearly as bad. Guess they are just more courteous speeders. Ha!
  6. This has to be some kind of joke, right? Clearly they've never driven in either Charlotte or Raleigh. Some of the worst driving habits I've ever experienced.
  7. So if it's 37 stories now, that's just a tad higher than the Avenue which is 425' tall? Assuming the normal residential floor heights.
  8. A lot of truth here. SO many of the jobs the banks are adding (not just BofA and Wells) go unnoticed because there are no "pat yourself on the back" press conferences to announce the jobs with city leaders or the governor. My better half works for Wells (since the First Union days) and she says the amount of hiring in Charlotte they are doing is unprecedented, especially six figure jobs. Not surprised the local number is over 27,000 now for Wells Fargo.
  9. Here we go... https://twitter.com/joebrunowsoc9/status/1202643857797767168 EDIT: For some reason the tweet wasn't showing but, MLS will announce Charlotte as the 30th team on December 17th.
  10. It's definitely north of 30. I'm sure the Wegman's brewery location sign was "by design" as well...
  11. Golden State Warriors comes to mind.
  12. There are reports this morning of downed power lines in SouthEnd near the Midnight Diner. Traffic is backed up getting into uptown. That may have something to do with it.
  13. Like most southern metros, Charlotte is a fickle sports town. When our teams are winning, people come out. Hornets have been nothing but slightly above average in competitiveness at best since they've returned. Plus the best player in Hornets history (sorry, it's not Larry Johnson or Alonzo) just left for the Celtics. We've never experienced a consistent winner in this town...
  14. At this rate, there won't be any customers left for the EpiCentre. Sad.
  15. Having stayed at the Omni for a work function recently, I can confirm. It's loud. To the point where several of my co-workers made comments about it... Including witness to some "for hire" X-rated entertainment. Pretty sure we won't be there again based on what some people witnessed.
  16. As others have mentioned, it looks like expanded international service to Europe from CLT is in the works over the next few years too. Which is great. Hopefully we also see that 3rd daily flight to London-Heathrow soon. On a side note, since they've opened the new roadways in front of the terminal, I've been through twice now (including yesterday). And it's a remarkable improvement. Seems to be so much less of a cluster f***.
  17. I've wanted them to extend the light rail up to the PNC Pavilion/Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, etc for the longest time. Driving in and out of the amphitheater for a concert is like going through the 7th circle of hell. It's gotten to the point where I only go there now for a band I really want to see.
  18. And the skyline continues to extend outside of uptown...
  19. Microsoft to invest $23M and add 430 high paying jobs in Charlotte. Average salary $98k. https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/business/article236604708.html
  20. Underrated pic of the Uptown skyline and new CLT air traffic control tower...
  21. I was at the game in London as well and I can confirm it was by far majority Panthers fans. Not just at the game, but throughout the city over the course of several days. The "Luuuuuke" chants and cheers for them were easily the loudest. I'd say it was 40% Panthers, 10% Bucs and 50% the other 30 NFL teams. I counted jerseys for every NFL team in the stadium. Weird observation of that day: after Panthers and Bucs, the Arizona Cardinals had the next most number of jerseys. Overall awesome experience. The Tottenham Stadium was state of the art. Really incredible facility. A craft brewery (Beaverton) inside the stadium. If the Panthers never get a dome, I'd love to see them enclose it the way they do (and many European soccer stadiums). Just enough coverage where the fans don't get soaked when it's raining (or burned when it's hot and sunny).
  22. I've heard conflicting reports... One says for a soccer specific stadium, the other is to help renovate BofA Stadium for soccer. Or at least make it more usable for soccer as a part of a big refurb. Agreed that they should be looking at Memorial Stadium if they want to do a soccer specific one.
