We are in a precarious place at the moment. It can truly go either way…but world leaders are already predicting a global recession in 2023. I hope it doesn’t happen…but it’s where things are heading at the moment. And yes…a lot of it had to do with Covid…the excessive printing of money to help people out…and now the raising of rates. The market wants to go back up…but there’s still a few months, I believe, before we know if we’re out of the woods or if there are more woods ahead.

Saying the economy isn’t as bad as some would like to think…well…it’s not good. The inflation is still at a 40 year high and raising interest rates hasn’t put a big dent in it. Middle class and poor are being hammered. And…a lot of economists are saying 2023 will be worse. It will probably be a year or more before we see a complete turnaround.

And the 11 and 4…meaning it will run from 11th to 4th Ave. I’ll take it. It’s a start. -
I like the name 1401 Church. It’s very unique. No other names in Nashville similar to it.

I kept looking at this image with the rainbow colored wall and saying to myself, “I’ve seen this somewhere before…but where??” It finally hit me that it reminds me of the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu back in the 80’s when I played basketball for Ole Miss and we played in the Rainbow Wahine Classic. Weird how a memory can come back with an image like this.

Can you all imagine what this area could become if they capped the interstate from Division to at least Church…maybe Charlotte and make that a park space? Pretty incredible.

I think only the bottom is going to have any “spice”…but even that didn’t look great. However…it can’t be worse than the ugly red it was before. -
I just wonder what their attitude would be if City Lights was surrounded on all sides by other 7 story buildings? They still wouldn’t be able to see out.

I really scratch my head on why in the world they continue to think that blue metal cladding on the front needs to stay. There is nothing about this front facade, including the windows, that help this fit into the Lower Broadway “landscape.” With Garth buying this and putting money into it, I had really hoped they would update the front to look more early 20th century / late 19th Century…but instead, they stick with 1970’s blue metal nonsense. -
They've decided they can make more money selling tickets to see “The Great Old Ruins of Nashville”…so it’s staying this way for the foreseeable future.

Two things I wish would change to help us get more tall buildings in the future is for the Metro government to back off some of their restrictions…and for BNA to do something about their flight path over downtown.

I like the windows / balconies up top. Gives it a nice, finished look…almost like a crown.

I think this one is more likely than 1000’ Signature Tower. Since this is tied to the YMCA and it’s next to Amazon HQ and Nashville Yards, it is pretty much a sure bet.

We've actually never seen a crew working…we can only assume a human did all of this. -

Crazy how from some angles, Nashville’s skyscrapers seem packed in…and then in a shot like this, it feels like we could pack in 10X more. -

Having fun picking out buildings. Took me a bit to find Alcove….but finally spotted it. From that angle, it was further to the right than I expected. Such a great shot. -

Fairgrounds Speedway Racetrack expansion to 30,000 seats
titanhog replied to markhollin's topic in Nashville
Well…of course. If the city was willing to lease SMI some land to build towers they could make money from including the track, it would probably be easier to swallow.- 457 replies

Fairgrounds Speedway Racetrack expansion to 30,000 seats
titanhog replied to markhollin's topic in Nashville
The biggest issue with the Fairgrounds is that as a company, you have to be tied to Metro government…so you don’t get to call all the shots. When you’re investing that kind of money and not owning the track…there’s a bit more risk. I’m not sure if that’s the hold up to getting the deal done or not.- 457 replies
