  1. The latest Post story on the Price Development project in Germantown mentions that a rendering will be ready in May. I don't know if these are current or not, but there are images of the project in here. I can't see the Post story. http://www.nashville.gov/mc/pdfs/zoning/2014_calendar_year/bl2014_906_site_plan.pdf
  2. I should have framed my question better. Any downtown highrise is required to have structured parking, correct? Hotels, office buildings, etc. I can't think of any case where a highrise downtown was permitted that only had surface parking for residents/employees/visitors. Why were those two large buildings not required to have structured parking? Just because the state built them? I realize things change over time, but it seems like the state skipped some rules that otherwise would have applied to construction of such large buildings.
  3. Aside from cost, is there any reason the state didn't include structured parking in the Crockett and Johnson high rises on JRP? I'm also curious why the large state lots along 10th Circle North haven't been developed with more efficient structured parking. I know, politics, but still. The states solution for cars has almost exclusively been surface parking.
  4. It's being renovated for a new honky tonk/restaurant. The plans are out there on the metro HZC site.
  5. Advance Financial is moving their headquarters at 1901 Church St. to Wedgewood-Houston. http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/blog/real-estate/2015/01/advance-financial-optics-company-moving-into.html Wonder if something is looming for the old commercial buildings they are vacating.
  6. Why? I thought the retail lining the ground floor of the garage would be a nice compliment to the Virgin hotel, and the streetscape in general.
  7. I wonder how long those have been sitting on their website. http://www.blurworkshop.com/nashville-hotel/
  8. Yeah Burger wanted to tear down the old house next door and build a new restaurant on the land. The planning commission disapproved the request because of parking. Perhaps they gave up on that site and will retrofit the Lone Wolf building instead?
  9. The Capitol Motel now looks like a parking garage with windows. Not sure it's much of an improvement.
  10. This might be new info: It seems Mark Zeff is handling design of the Virgin Hotel. "Most recently, the firm has been asked by Virgin Hotel Group to develop its new hotel in Nashville as well, as in other locations to be announced." http://www.markzeff.com/
  11. The Gulch was, and is, a topographical feature long before it was a name for a neighborhood. It runs north/south from around the Cannery to Jo Johnston Blvd; basically the railroad tracks run right through the center.
  12. A demolition permit was issued today for the brick warehouse at 1211 Laurel Street.
  13. A couple things to consider. First, several blocks of this stretch currently have on-street parking. If this parking were eliminated, new lanes would allow for increased traffic flow. That isn't really a long-term solution, however, and there is no room to widen this road to five lanes. Second, think about the mindset of local planners and transit supporters. If we have all this huge, concentrated development and the roads are maxed out, it's a very good argument for a forward-thinking mode or method of mass transit.
  14. A few more details from the fine print: 4 stories 103 living units - 28 micro-units, 45 1BR, 30 2BR retail - 17, 740 sqft bank branch - 3,800 sqft proposed parking - 182 spaces
  15. That is unfortunate. It appears that's because a bank be part of the new project. Just a guess; see the lanes that look like bank teller lanes for cars? Still, if the opportunity is present to really 'fix' this corner, it should be done with buildings to the street at the corner. Cars should not get priority at intersections like this.
  16. There's a new zoning application for what looks like a major project at the NE corner of 21st and Wedgewood. The site plan mentions ground-level retail, 2nd floor residential units, and a parking garage. http://maps.nashville.gov/MPC/2015/021215/2005UD-009-001_plan.pdf
  17. It seems the Skyhouse site is now for sale. http://www.colliers.com/p-usa1003157/?14aae469e8f
  18. The permit site says it's a mixed-use development. Maybe restaurant/retail and hotel or office? "A request to rezone from MUI-A to SP-MU zoning for properties located at 1918 and 1922 Broadway, at the corner of Broadway and 20th Avenue South, (0.68 acres), to permit a mixed-use development, requested by Land Development.com, applicant; 1918 Broadway, LLC, and Land Development.com, owners."
  19. Maybe this is addressed in the paywall Nashville Post article, but it's sad to see that Noshville, and the old house next door, are facing demolition. http://maps.nashville.gov/MPC/2015/021215/2015SP-016-001_plan.pdf
  20. Isn't it strange that there are no doors on the front of the building on West End? It might as well be the back of it.
  21. About halfway down, there are floor plan images for the restaurant and rooftop space planned for Noel Place. http://ashley-wilkins.com/portfolio.pdf
  22. This SP request indicates a relocation of the Nashville Ready Mix facility. Not sure of the specifics, but I wonder if this could be a relocation of the facility in Germantown. http://maps.nashville.gov/MPC/2015/012215/2015SP-012-001_plan.pdf
  23. The Crescent Music Row project has a website. http://callmusicrowhome.com/
  24. Stop Amp posted an "action alert" regarding MPO's meeting this morning at Music City Central. It said the MPO's #1 listed priority for 2015 is the Amp. They wanted opponents to show up wearing red.I don't know the outcome of that meeting, but thought it may be of interest.
