  1. It does look cheap. Even just using larger windows on the top floor [which appears to have taller ceilings] would be an improvement. Hopefully it at least has some commercial space.
  2. The Compass Partners website says the Westin will be 31 stories. I believe I've seen that elsewhere too. Of course, the floor count can change many times. http://www.compasspartnersllc.org/menu/
  3. I also lived at 114 Louise Avenue, in the late 90's. The building was in bad shape, but I really enjoyed living there. It was built in the 30's, I believe. Despite it's shortcomings, it was a great place to live. I loved the large windows, the hardwood floors, the huge old bathtub, and the untold history of all the people who had lived there before me. I would be very sad to see those old buildings torn down. If they were ever renovated and sold as condos, I would definitely consider buying. That seems unlikely, though. I had a hard enough time getting Mr. Ramos to take care of basic maintenance in my apartment.
  4. Any word on what's going in the former Elder's Bookstore on Elliston Place, and/or the recently demolished small building next door?
  5. Skyhouse and the related UDO cancellation are on the planning commission's consent agenda for Thursday, which means it will be approved unless someone from the community objects and has it removed. This could begin very soon, it seems.
  6. She definitely adds an interesting aspect to the committee meetings. Every time she's brought up conflict of interest, along with the alternatives analysis. The tone of Stomp Amp, down to the graphics on their Facebook page, is really negative and off-putting. I supposed that's the point, but aside from the half-baked suggestion to instead run BRT lite down Charlotte, they offer no legitimate alternative to the Amp. They are vehemently against dedicated lanes, most of all [aside from the cost.] The other alternative they've offered, curbside loading on the planned route, has plenty of it's own problems. A big talking point for Stop Amp is the loss of street parking on West End. I don't understand - If you had curbside loading instead of center dedicated lanes, wouldn't you still need to eliminate street parking to make the system efficient and worth the effort? I submitted this question to them but never got a response. I favored the original plan of running Amp all the way down Broadway to 1st Ave. The current plan of running it through downtown, even further away from the convention center, is really going to slow it down. If it gets watered down much more, it's not going to be nearly as attractive.
  7. Is this not the alternatives analysis? That's how it's named on the AMP website. http://www.nashvillemta.org/PDF/BWE-LPA-Report-FINAL3.pdf
  8. Other studies for the Clarksville/Nashville commuter train route are online somewhere. One of the plans shows the route reclaiming part of the former rail line that is now the Cumberland River Bicentennial Trail in Ashland City, which would be unfortunate. It's one of the best greenways in the county, if not the best.
  9. Here are new documents/diagrams for HCA/North Capitol. Two things - It seems from the copy that Parallon and SCRI will both be in this building, not two separate buildings. Also, it seems the liner building on Nelson Merry has been eliminated from the design. https://partners.skanska.com/usa/offices/tn/Shared%20Documents/HCA%20Capitol%20View/Schematic%20Documents/4013500_SD_CapitolView_FSbook_FINAL.pdf
  10. The concept plan for 19th and Broadway shows two towers, one apartments and one hotel: http://maps.nashville.gov/MPC/2014/100914/2014SP-072-001_plan.pdf Here's the site plan for M Residences. http://maps.nashville.gov/MPC/2014/100914/2014SP-074-001_plan.pdf
  11. There are a couple new SP's on metro's site, both on 19th Avenue S. One for the previously announced mixed-use project at 19th Ave S. and Chet Atkins Place, which now has a name - "M Residences." The other is a mixed use project at 19th Ave. and Broadway, on the land occupied by Gigi's, the old Arby's parking lot, and the small Premier Parking building behind Hattie B's.
  12. They didn't include ground floor retail because the land is in the flood buffer. It's all parking. The planning commission didn't seem to have a problem with that. Neighborhood reps were at the meeting to contest the way the developers achieved sky plane and setbacks. They understood why ground-floor retail wasn't included, although they wanted it, but contested that getting the height bonus with a flood buffer hardship/no retail allowed was misusing the design overlay. Or something like that.
  13. Having an Ikea along the Amp route, maybe on part of the Lifeway site, would be one more big reason for improved, speedy transit along the corridor. All the new residential being planned and built along the corridor is a big indicator; many of these younger people want experiences like this, that are found in other cities.
  14. The name of the Embrey apartment development on Jefferson St is Carillon Apartments.
  15. The AT&T building is getting another logo on top, or near the top. US Bank. http://maps.nashville.gov/MPC/2014/092514/2014DT-001-001_plan.pdf
  16. The Peafowl property is actually three buildings, not just the theater building. The other two are on the side and rear of the Peafowl; large masonry buildings. https://www.google.com/maps/@36.175971,-86.786418,3a,75y,162.66h,84.87t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1suxHLZ-r4LLhRLo_To8l5dg!2e0
  17. Here's something "new." In this brochure, UBS Tower is referred to as "CityPointe," and is depicted with major exterior changes including a roof and facade additions. http://marketing.cbre.com/PMC/CityPointe/CityPointe.html
  18. Here's a site plan for the Price project. http://maps.nashville.gov/MPC/2014/091114/2014SP-065-001_plan.pdf
  19. A common feature of Skyhouse is that there is minimal excavation. The garages are built beside rather than under the tower. It doesn't look that good, but the configuration seems common for buildings along West End and Broadway.
  20. Demolition continues in the old Noel Hotel; surprised more info hasn't surfaced about this one.
  21. In response to this deceptive "protest", Steve Smith [owner of Avenue Diner and the other Broadway businesses] sent out a press release this afternoon that includes this: "There will be no live entertainment or stages in the diner, making it a place for people to enjoy good conversation with a good meal." Avenue Diner, LLC were wrong to tear down the previous building without permission, but they still have a right to build a diner as planned on this lot. It's not helping the opposition that they are resorting to such deceptive statements and tactics to sway the public. The construction plans are very clear [assuming they are accurate] - there are no performance spaces anywhere in this building. http://www.pgplans.com/viewer/viewer.php?job=133&section=240&file=001T1.PDF
  22. Work has begun on the Geist blacksmith shop property, on Jefferson Street.
  23. Here's a nugget from the metro planning website - a mention of "Sky House Nashville" for the Broadway property that includes the Sub Stop building. Application Name: Sky House Nashville A request to rezone from CF to SP-MU zoning for properties located at 1707 Broadway and at 109, 115, 119 and 121 17th Avenue South, at the southwest corner of Broadway and 17th Avenue South, (1.36 Acres), to permit a mixed use building of up to 25 stories in height, requested by Kimley-Horn, applicant; West End Capital, LLC, owner (See also Urban Design Overlay Case No. 2001UD-002-009).
