  1. Im really glad that this hotel is comming along nicely. I dont think this will have any hiccups like the peacock site did. I think its also going to blow the peacocks architecture away. a crane shouldnt be too far off once they get some other stuff squared away. Triangle is the GC on this building.
  2. Ive heard of people that are temporary there making the 17/18 an hour so Id say at least 20+ an hour for 100% company employees.

I would be scared driving a car that small. The only way I will go to that level is when gas goes to 6 dollars per gallon and everyone else is driving them. I dont think you stand much of a chance surviving getting hit by a big suv/truck when your driving a mini-cooper/z3/geometro.
  4. I think BMW starts out at around 17-18 an hour from what ive heard so the pay isnt that bad. Im sure most people there make in the 40,000+ a year or more range. This is great news for the upstate and for south carolina in general.
  5. GSA adds more people regionally than any other area in SC....fact.
  6. I just hope we dont have anymore 105 degree days in august. The bass dont bite too good in that kind of weather. I remember the water temp was 91 degrees last august when we went out to the lake. That is pretty warm for water.
  7. Niagara falls has a toronto style CN tower and it draws a lot of tourist plus has great views of the city. I was up there last summer. It was great. I think eventually we could fit something like that in here.
  8. Personally I dont think Greenville will ever have the skyline Charlotte has. Our banks are not building towers downtown so do you expect them to build residential towers in downtown greenville that are 800ft tall? Im not seeing that for a very very long time. Maybe 100 years?
  9. Yeah...its the same kind of scenario.....too bad.
  10. It might be better if North and south carolina were one state. Then the south carolina cities could have north carolinas laws for annexation.
  11. Wow 5000 acres is massive. Almost hard to imagine that big of a place.
  12. Exterior walls are 2x4 construction. 2x6 is stronger. I think the apartments should have been at least all brick to match up with the publix and staples better. The publix won the masonry award for upstate south carolina. Too bad the apartments couldnt have had more brick and less stucco. That stucco just doesnt do it for me. Looks too cheap.

    The West End

When I went to Niagara falls this past summer they had a Shoeless Joes restaurant that was pretty upscale. We decided to eat there and they have a lcd tv at each table showing some kind of sport. I thought it was pretty cool. I wonder if they know how good one of those one do in Greenville since Shoeless Joe was from here anyway. I could definetly see something like that in the westend. The food there was great.
  15. How did Greenville and Anderson come out as far as building permits? I know its off topic but just wondering.
  16. Its been a few years since I last visited Rock Hill. I'll have to check it out sometime.
  17. I had rode down it before it was open and was taken by surprise at how curvy that first curve was/is!!!

    The Rumor Mill

Yes....because it would seem that not all things can be moved by the white truck crew :-)

I hope it does come to Piedmont, SC. That would be perfect for the 153, 81, 86, and river road highways. I currently live in the middle of Piedmont. Maybe I should hold on to my land and house for a little longer. lol
  21. Will there be any on and off ramps on this new bridge?
  22. That was this past summer. Ive thought about stopping by and saying hey again but I have not gotten a chance with school going on after work.
  23. I remember one day I did talk to the superintendent when we were building Mcbee station. He seemed like a pretty cool guy. He had came to staples that day and I noticed his truck. I walked over and struck up a conversation with him. He said him and his wife where thinking about staying in Greenville cause they liked it here. He also said it was going to be one heck of a building when completed even though they had scaled it back. He used words like "fancy" to describe the final building. He has seen all the plans and material list so he has a good idea of what is in it and what the finished product will be. It made my expectations rise over what I had previously thought of the building.
  24. ^I also noticed that when i rode by the other day. The first columns are pretty high in the air. Pretty interesting. It will be neat to see the concrete structure when they top it out just to see how big of an impact it will have. I suspect it will have a huge impact on that area with Mcbee station just down the street. I hope it spurs bigger and better things.
  25. ^Thats a good statistic. When I get through with Clemson I plan on staying around the Greenville metro if construction stays at the pace it currently is. Currently Greenville has more construction going on then it ever has I believe. Most of it is sprawl but still growth. I wish it was more centered downtown. To bad our states largest bank had to build a sprawling campus along I-85 instead of a 40 story tower downtown. Oh well.....sigh.
