  1. Just saw an article that a developer wants to construct greenville's tallest building on the gateway site http://www.wyff4.com/news/13482051/detail.html

    The West End

I think we need some more tourist attractions like an IMAX or something around the west end or riverplace area to draw in some more people. Maybe this would encourage store owners to stay open a little bit longer. An aquarium would do good next to the river somewhere. I went to the one in gatlinburg and thought it was great. It is right next to a similiar sized river up there. Maybe this was off topic but just an idea.
  3. Yes, the condos are on top of the retail spaces. There is an underground tunnel that comes out of the lower level of the parking garage. This tunnel comes up beside the publix and near the elevator so people can ride it up to the second floor of the condo spaces that is above the retail. I dont know who is marketing them though. Good question. The apartment buildings are going to have a flat roof like you see when you go over church street bridge. They have a pretty big impact . More than i had expected.
  4. Yes. I remember saying the same things about how i didnt like greenville when i was 18 or 19 years old. Im 25 now and in just that small amount of time it has changed tremendously. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact when your young it is easier for you to knock on your hometown when in reality it is a pretty good place to live. Perceptions change so much the older I get. I wonder how ill be when im 30?
  5. How tall will it be all together?
  6. ^^^We talk about it daily on the job how we think it is just a cheap way of throwing them up really quick so they use about 100 mexicans to wood frame the buildings up.
  7. When we build our 9 story building I will be sure to wave at ol' Jimmy boy for all of you. Im sure he will get some good views of all of Harpers men....lol.
  8. ^^^It would be good but it might be a while before anything like that happens. mauldin and greenville are virtually growing their borders right up against each other so it does make a little sense. ICAR and the point are almost right between the two cities. Does sound interesting just chatting about it.
  9. ^^^Like someone said i think a lot of people are underestimating the size of this project. This is MASSIVE.
  10. ^^^I think the new Publix we are building in downtown Greenville is going to knock the old Bi-Lo there off the block. I think the Publix will draw a lot of those people shopping at the old Bi-Lo over to it!
  11. I got a feeling that it might be sooner than you think with an Atlanta developer behind it.
  12. Well its a really dense spread out developement and there is still A LOT of work to be done before we get finished with it. Id say in a few more months it will start looking a lot better.
  13. I took some pics today with my camera phone.
  14. ^^^Yeah its real messed up around year when it comes to these "special purpose districts". I think the primary city should benefit before the other cities in the region. Greer and Mauldin are walling Greenville in so by the time any new laws are passed there will not be anywhere to grow but near taylors but greer will probably have that by then.
  15. We are going on a date with Orangeburg....lol. After they breed we will have another Columbia.
  16. What about the 9 story office tower? I noticed that on the plans
  17. ^^^Ill be there....just look for the brick mason in the blue hard hat. Ill be working though.
  18. I heard today that the peacock site should be firing up soon as the treatment of the dirt is nearing an end.
  19. To go from 81 to 52 is a good jump. It shows our region is starting to do something for the better.
  20. ^^^ Yeah and you can see things a lot better now.
  21. Manhattan is so congested you can hardly even get anywhere. I went there last year. Not my cup of tea. Most people dont drive up there and are not encouraged to drive into the city. It was an experience though. Its just another way of life. They have things they can laugh at us about and there are things we can laugh at them about. It all comes out in the wash.
  22. I think it is good to have a mix of different stores for the different income ranges of people. That way the rich can shop where they want and the middle class people can shop where they want. It needs to be done in such a way though where nothing will look cheap or fake. I think Magnolia park will do such a thing once built.
  23. Mimi's is awesome. I like their chicken pot pie.
