There's not too much to see... they are putting up the parking deck in the rear next to the RR tracks and adjacent to 518 West. They are placing what appears to be precast concrete segments for the deck, which should mean a quick assembly. It is rediculous how slow this building has been. I think they broke ground in Feb/March 06 and are just now showing signs of getting out of the ground. When I stopped by the sales center last fall, they said they were still on schedule. I guess we'll see.

I went by there last night, and they are erecting the parking deck. ChiefJoJo is right, mostly steel and prefabbed concrete. Appears maybe about 20% of the deck structure is up. At least its rising out of the ground and gives a sense of whats to come.

This may be a silly question, but should we be expecting a tower crane when the deck is completed? Or.. is what we see what we get on this one... Just curious...

no idea. drive by if you get a chance, there is some steel starting to go up right now but maybe they'll need it for the upper floors, kinda like bloomsbury

Steel I-Beams are being set....to date I have only seem Tower Cranes when reinforced concrete sturctures are being built in this city like the Marriot....222, like the CC, only used boom a crane so far albeit a big one.

Wow, that parking garage went up in a hurry. Are they planning on opening the parking up before the rest of the building is complete? Guess this is proof positive of why independent parking structures are cheaper and easier than building the parking into the main structure.

Looks like they have some steel coming out of the ground, too. Does that count as "going vertical"?

they take the cake for ugliest parking deck award in the city. that thing is borderline monolithic. i sure hope the building structure will eliminate this as much as possible.

I don't know if the rest of the building will cover that up, but if not it would be a great spot for a public mural. I personally want to see a giant Rod Brind'Amour like this

I agree that is by far the ugliest parking deck ever. It looks like a giant concrete coffin. Hopefully they will remedy that with a gaint mural or something else of interest on that side of the building.

Just another reminder that parking IS NOT FREE. Imagine how much cheaper the condos in 222 would be if that monstrosity did not need to be built.

On a positive side, at least the deck backs up to the tracks--no NIMBYs around to complain about the eyesore.

It's a pretty bad wall. Reminds me of the windowless AT&T building. It looks like someone took the Hoover Dam and just stuck it downtown, instead of blocking the river where it's supposed to be.

I may be way off, but I would expect the single wall is built with the expectation that a future building would adjoin it. If windows were included, the owner of 222 would need to fill them in. As I said, I may be talking out of my @ss.

I do like the idea of public art there.
