Can I just say that is a really unfortunate name for any company...

Edit: and yes, I get that they must be successful and therefore their name must really be great...but again...this isn't for all the Mr. Literals out there. It's a joke.

Maybe they thought about the name during a "movement."

About Charlotte is at the bottom of the article.

19 more manufacturing jobs on top of 16 last year at this NJ based plastics company in Charlotte. Manufacturing jobs have much better job multiplier than other type of jobs.  This is an $18 million investment.  http://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/news/2017/01/25/stretch-film-plant-to-add-19-jobs-18m-investment.html?ana=RSS%26s%3Darticle_search&utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

It seems like no one likes Charlotte Stories and I get the rationale (shoddy journalism occasionally, dated stories, etc)...that said, 25% or more of their stories aren't covered by 5 or Agenda and they are interesting (the other two cover the same things typically).  Here's one and it's undeniably good news:

I can't believe I didn't know this already.

ew, don't support them. They are bots, I'm sure they plagiarized this off someone else.

Cushman and Wakefield's 4th quarter Office Market report shows good office space absorption and new leases and lower vacancies. You can download the report here http://www.cushmanwakefield.us/en/research-and-insight/unitedstates/charlotte-office-snapshot/   Just for some comparison they reported approx. 1.5 million sq ft absorbed in the Atlanta office market a market almost 2 times the size of Charlotte's. Charlotte had positive 1.6 million sq ft of positive office space absorption.  Our office market is strong and usually new buildings like the ones being completed in 2017 will increase the absorption since for example Barings (Babson Capital) is going from 50K space in Duke Energy Center to 200,000 sq ft in their new tower.  The Wells Fargo lease in Ballantyne was the largest new office lease of the year.

The only support they get from me is page views (and a rare mention on these pages).  No one is making a living off of those...

Just FYI, page views are what keeps many sites afloat.  Each page view generates an ad impression for every ad served on the page.  (Source: six years working in online ad creation and trafficking.)

I can't say where the story came from, but I know I read about it about 5 years ago here. That certainly calls into question the "Declassified Gov't Docs" headline at the very least.

Charlotte region added over 22,000 jobs in 2016 decreasing unemployment down to 4.5%. 1.7 million square feet of office space was absorbed and absorption is expected to stay strong in the coming years and likely stronger in 2017 than in 2016. 2.2 million square feet is under construction right now with about half of it being in 300 S. Tryon and 615 S College.

Wasn't it you that posted within the last few days that our office adsorption rate was the highest in the US or that we absorbed more than Atlanta? I can't remember the details exactly, but we had a pretty good showing. Am I remembering that correctly?

I actually posted that. Here it is again  Cushman and Wakefield's 4th quarter Office Market report shows good office space absorption and new leases and lower vacancies. Charlotte had positive 1.6 million sq ft of positive office space absorption   Not the highest in the country but besting Atlanta for sure as % of the office space absorbed.

More reports on office space 4th Quarter from Avison Young strong office absorption (everybody counts this differently but still positive over 1 M sq ft absorbed last year) and check out the 3rd Qtr Industrial warehouse report. Warehouse space is booming positive absorption of 2.5 Million sq ft through Oct 31, 2016  This real estate sector is on fire but because the buildings are 1 story and many times hidden people don't see the huge growth in them. You can download the reports from here http://www.avisonyoung.com/offices/charlotte

The Charlotte Fin-tech community continues to grow. This company Kingsmen Software plans to double in size this year adding 30 more jobs to their SouthEnd office. http://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/news/2017/01/31/big-bank-alumnus-moves-to-local-startup-kingsmen.html?ana=e_ae_set1&s=scroll&ed=2017-01-31&u=oAaDx%2B74FoP4qOJ%2By4AU6dhJPpc&t=1485894324&j=77244961  Love to see Charlotte's tech community continue to grow.

^To add on to this, the Charlotte Biz Journals has some more details as well. Uptown is now down to a 7.4% office vacancy rate. Not the anemic levels that they were in the 2000s, but that's still low and obviously warrants more office space being built. Almost 800,000 sqft of retail is being developed between uptown and southend. 1,400 hotel rooms under construction and 1,265 in planning. Almost feel like there should be more given how much more office and retail is going to be added over the next 4 years.

And thats just the announced retail. This isn't including Design Center or Lincoln Harris.

I don't think anyone has posted this, though I could be wrong.  Industrious is taking 21,000+ sq ft in Bank of America Plaza, and apparently they are looking for another space in Charlotte.  Not huge news, but more absorption of square footage is healthy for upcoming projects elsewhere in Uptown.  It would be cool to see a co-working space at 10 Tryon at some point.  Seems like it would be a great spot for it.
