Mary's of Course is finishing up their renovation project in the Arts District. The new restaurant is being relocated from Brookstown to a historic one story building on Trade, north of 7th St. Grand opening is June 4.

Grilled Asparagus, a new vegetarian restaurant will occupy the old Mary's of Course space in Brookstown.

Discount retail coming to 4th and Trade. Not too crazy about the location for this type of store and use of the ground floor space in this beautiful building. I was hoping for a nice anchor for this corner.

I definitely would have liked a much different retailer for this space as well, but with the growing number of people living and working downtown stores like this are needed. I do wish this was on Liberty street instead, but according to other sources it is supposed to be more of an "upscale" dollar store that specializing in things downtown businesses would need and it will include a small business center with computer and printer access. Lets see what happens

Signs for a new Italian restaurant, Trattoria Comunale, are posted up at the corner of 4th and Patterson. This hasnt been in the news yes...just the DWSP blog.

Souphab Daoheang, owner of two restaurants on Fourth Street (Downtown Thai and Soup's Palace)is opening an upscale lounge with a "rooftop experience" opposite One Park Vista.

Camino Bakery and Wine Bar will be opening this June, in the former Quizno's space inside the Nissen Building. Owner Cary Clifford envisions a quiet restaurant for families.

Buena Pinta is almost ready for business. Theyre hoping to be open early next month on 4th Street opposite One Park Vista.

Historic Bahnson House gets a new life.

This English Country House style home built in 1920 sits at the corner of 5th and Spring Streets, opposite the main library.

Great news for the downtown W-S office market. The regional VA office is expanding its downtown presence. 4 floors, 80,000 square feet of space will be upfitted in Wells Fargo Center. With this new tenant, the former Wachovia HQ is about 3,500 sf short of being at full capacity.

Separk Music is relocating to Lewisville after 70+ years of business on 4th street. Owners say most of their customers come from western Forsyth and the new location would better serve them.

Xia Lieu of Kernersville new restaurant is bringing a new restaurant to the Civic Plaza area. The old Forsyth County Register of Deeds space on the ground floor of the Liberty Plaza will be home to a Xia's Asian Bistro and Sushi Bar.

"It's going to have an eclectic New York feel," Lieu said

Expect large windows, 140 seats and outside seating. Completion date is set for mid October.

Will Blackwell, a partner with Atlantic Coast Commercial, is also working on a deal to sign a national tenant across the hall from Xia. He declined to give a name.

New Clothing store coming to East 4th! Centennial Trade Co. will be opening in the same block as Crankies, opposite the Bailey. The store website isnt up yet, but you can get updates on twitter.

The restaurant boom continues for downtown with the announcement of a new 4th Street seafood restaurant. King's Crabshack and Oyster Bar is planned for a vacant space opposite Civic Plaza. Chefs Will Kingery and Norb Cooper from Willow's Bistro, plan to open the 2,400 sf restaurant this Fall. Expect a bar, 6 TVs and a relaxing, fun atmosphere.
