it seems like metal paneled buildings, especially with light metal panels always end up looking crappy in 20 or so years. the panels stain with rust that drips down and it looks bad. I do think that the rendering looks better with the white panels but I am concerned that it wouldn't hold up very well in the long term.

That is a valid concern. The Huntington Bank offices use to be white until the exterior cladding started to get really grimy looking and had to be repainted to that darker slate color.

Couple of comments...

The building that Huntington Bank is in- the streaking that was visible was most likely caused by the sealant in the window system 'oozing'. This is a common complaint among older window systems. Newer sealants should not have this problem.

There should be no worries about any rusting happening. Most of the metal panel systems are aluminum these days and the joints are gasketed and sealed as needed to prevent problems.

Take a look at the Devos Place... probably the same or similar material proposed.

I was thinking the same thing, that there should be enough rust-proof aluminum alloys out there to use for an application like this. I think I'm a fan of the newer, lighter design. They added the windows to connect the apt. tower with the museum on the Fulton side and it looks like they took some away on the Commerce side. I just can't wait for it to start taking shape.

Our building had an atrium added in 1987. I figured for sure the aluminum mullions for the roof section would leak but knock on plastic :) , they still haven't leaked :thumbsup:

I sure would think that they are cementing the foundation. Been real busy at work so I haven't had a chance to talk to the construction workers. One of the concrete workers helped tear down the back wall of 21 Weston were I take photos from. Sorry I don't have any information at this time for you.

John, it looks as though you have marked your tripod leg locations. No??

What is the official website for this project? I tried looking through all 35 pages and did a google search, but couldn't find anything.

RSC & Associates (co-developer) and Built Form Architecture both have it in their respective portfolios, but I don't think there is an "official" site for it yet. Considering that it's apartments that won't be available for over a year, it's probably a bit premature. If they had condos or commercial space to lease, they could justify spending the marketing dollars now.

That would be my guess.
