I took almost 200 drone pictures in Charlotte over the past two weeks. I didn’t realize how many projects there were under construction in Charlotte right now until I got there.  I wayyy underestimated it. It’s crazy. Clearly the high interest rates aren’t affecting the market there like they are in Greenville with delayed projects all over the place. Anyways, let’s get this party started:

On the Commonwealth development - I think this site would be awesome if it included a pedestrian bridge over the rail line closer to Independence. This would improve access to the development for all the apartments along Hawthorne, and it would also make it easier to access the Sunnyside Gold line stop from the Plaza business district.

Do you all see a financial incentive for Crosland to build that? I really hope someone catches the vision and adds connectivity on that side of the site. It would greatly improve the pedestrian experience not having to take Central to get to the development from the west side.

I realize it’s a little out of topic for this thread, but somewhat relevant since OP included photos of that site as well. Thanks!

The amount of Construction activity is truly Staggering in Charlotte.  If this level of development continues the city won’t be recognizable in the next 5/6 years.

I've only been a way a year and a half and already I'm relying on the comments to orient myself. Especially, The South End.  Can't wait to return this spring and take a few days to wander around.

What’s even crazier is this isn’t even all of the projects I took drone pics of. I accidentally deleted two of them from my SD card before I uploaded them.  One was Modera at Southpark and the other one was 1701 East Blvd Apartments.

Excellent pics! Man, Charlotte is really filling out. Talk about density. It's amazing how that one light rail line created all this incredible development in South End. Keep up the good photography. I enjoy looking at these.

and there are some up at Camp North End under construction and of course 26 story high rise underway in Ballantyne.  But that is a lot of flying.

Worked at the same building - 720 Morehead - 25 years ago as well and couldn't agree more - its unrecognizable.  Ate lunch at Longhorn and Frankies quite a bit - both long gone.   Don't get down to that area as much now but every time I do, I cannot believe the changes.

Ok, man, that is some crazy development going on in Charlotte.   Do you need some sort of drone permit?  Totally unfamiliar with how that works.
