Pence, McConnell and Rubio have now come out and rebuked Trump and condemned what happened on January 6th. Looks like there's a growing crack in the MAGA dam.

Rubio could be looking at a serious race for a change. Val hasn’t been afraid to give as good as she’s gotten (an art Democrats are awful at) but she manages to do it in a very classy way.

Your best fit is…

Establishment Liberals

… along with 13% of the public

Roughly half of Establishment Liberals describe their political views as liberal. They hold liberal positions on nearly all issues and support an expanded role for government and a larger social safety net. They also hold liberal attitudes on issues of racial and ethnic equality. Establishment Liberals are more likely than any other group to say that compromise is how things get done in politics. About half say they are satisfied with the way things are going in the country today, and an overwhelming majority say they approve of the job Joe Biden is doing as president.

6. Ambivalent Right

Young and politically cross-pressured: Conservative on economics and issues of race and gender, less so on immigration, social issues

don't know if I would call myself young. Also, I think this is just another way of saying Classical Liberal.

Your best fit is…

Progressive Left

… along with 6% of the public

Progressive Left, the only majority White, non-Hispanic Democratic-oriented political typology group, have very liberal views on virtually every issue and support far-reaching changes to address racial injustice and expand the social safety net. They are among the smallest typology groups, but also one of the most politically engaged. They feel less warmly toward the Democratic Party than Establishment Liberals or Democratic Mainstays, but those who voted in the 2020 general election were nearly unanimous in their support for Joe Biden. They are the only group in which a majority say they like political leaders who identify as democratic socialists.

Woohoo! The Washington Post has Secretary Mayor Pete as the second most likely Democratic nominee in 2024 behind Joe. It’s of course way too early and rumor has it Joe may not opt for a second term but this makes me smile.

What I especially like is that WaPo acknowledges Pete ran a very effective campaign in 2020. Had the idiots in Iowa not messed up the caucus results so badly, he would have had the Big Mo heading into NH. Hopefully, he’s working diligently on his major weakness and making inroads with African-American voters. His projects at DOT should help with that.

Hillary Clinton has reentered the public spotlight again in recent months. I think she may consider running again. If she does, I think she's the favorite to get the Dem nomination.

I don’t think so. No one I know of in Democratic circles thinks that. The modern Democrats, unlike the GOP, have never been good about do-overs. The major exception that proved the rule was Adlai Stevenson.

If anyone would have been ripe for a do-over, it would have been Al Gore in 2004. The party faithful believed he was robbed in 2000 and he was one of the few major Democrats that opposed the Iraq war. Even he knew that dog wouldn’t hunt, though.

Both Clintons also are tarred with negatives from #metoo and, given Joe’s age, look for a younger nominee this time if Joe does an LBJ.

If Mehmet Oz and Herschel Walker win in the Senate, then the GOP will have five Senators who are POC. Marco Rubio, Tim Scott and Ted Cruz are the other ones. That's the same number that the Dems will have.

I understand your point but I don't know if would include Ted Cruz. Regardless, its heading the right direction.

I would not count on Mehmet or Herschel. Oz may not make it out of the primary.

Hypocrisy, thy name is Republican. You know all that voter fraud (which studies consistently reveal is a problem in very few instances) they talk about. Well, I guess they are trying to make it come true. Until last week, The Donald’s former chief of staff, ex-Congressman Mark Meadows, was registered in three states at once (VA, NC and SC).

Of course, the hotbed here in Florida for fraudulent voters is GOP stronghold The Villages. I can’t wait to see if Ron DeSantis sends his bogus Election Force there to get this folks in line. At least they’ve moved past their STD explosion a few years back to just lying about their votes - progress, I suppose?

Frederick Law Olmsted, who would have been 200 next week, believed awesome public spaces were vital to democracy.

As we celebrate his work, let’s redouble our efforts to diligently oppose and fight back against those who continue to attempt to destroy our public institutions. As citizens, we say “No!”

Who needs Disney? Instead, the Lake Buena Vista theme parks will become DeSanty World (CAUTION: It’s not for the faint of heart!)

Really smart for DeSantis to try to destroy the very company that MADE Florida more than just another state in the deep south. I hope Governor Lamont is able to lure some of Disney's offices over to Connecticut. We already have the ESPN HQ which is owned by Disney.

I’m not sure all those Californians would know what to do with a Connecticut winter. At least LL Bean is close so they can bundle up.

That article is quite funny. Since Biden got in and DeSantis is marketing Florida as an escape from his awful policies, all metrics indicate more people then ever are coming to Florida. Orlando's airport is way up on the passenger list, Florida is among the top for population growth as people try to escape the lockdown left states. DeSantis has only proposed Disney pay their fair share, just like Universal and Sea World, and not preventing any of Disney's growth.

My favorite bit of typical Republican hypocrisy was Randy Fine saying Disney’s “just a guest here.” They’ve been here a helluva lot longer than that Arizona/Nevada carpetbagger.

The Republic Is Saved, the Fifth Republic, that is.

Good news from France - no need to break out the Freedom Fries. The BBC is projecting Macron will be re-elected.

Putin and The Donald’s little puppet can crawl back into the sludge of hate she came from. Score one for democracy this weekend!

More good news tonight from Slovenia, where a centrist prime minister candidate appears to have defeated a right-wing populist:

A little less than seven months until it will be up to us to do the same thing.

Isn't Connecticut one of the highest taxed states in the US?
