Absolutely. I never would have dreamed there was a creek under there to begin with. Someone spent an extraordinary amount to culvert under what's just a giant gravel storage parking lot.

They stored large cranes, I can only imagine they bought the property when they owned smaller cranes, and then capped it later lol. #MakeAtandoARiver

I drove Atando to that intersection nearly every day in the early 70's and I recall no sign of a waterway at that time. Moss Trucking was the longtime business there.

@gman430 most excellent photo of this apartment building on N Tryon right outside 277 loop.  I call this the apartment building most likely to survive a Category 4 hurricane.  It is built like they do in Florida especially south Florida cinder block and concrete.  If hurricane like Hugo or worse blew through town again this one will be standing for sure.

Former concrete plant, Sugar Creek. Lots of other parcels in the area are ready to go as well.

Embrey's apartment complex at N Tryon and Atando is cleared and lots of site work being done.  They have to reroute a small creek.

this North Tryon corridor from 277 to 36th St is rapidly changing.  Fairfield of San Diego has started on their complex midway between Amtrak station and Matheson.   The Starbucks building across from the Amtrak station is almost done and I must say this area is becoming a better area and not the industrial area it once was.  

Alliance of Scottsdale has its Prose apartment complex in framing. at Matheson and N Tryon.   Embrey Properties of San Antonio has their site being cleared and drainage work at Atando and N Tryon and of course Avery Hall of Brooklyn has their 3100 N Tryon apartments framed up. 

So we have apartments being developed by Californians, Arizonans, Texans, and New Yorkers within a couple of miles.
